I like Randle, not sure I'd want him on my team but I like him. If McDaniels can fill that void, the Wolves will be in a good spot. Supposedly they turned down Giannis because the Bucks wanted McDaniels.

Glad Randle's out of the west, he always gave us problems.

Riley always wanted Giannis, now he has him. Gotta see how they build the roster around him and Bam.

If that's true, that's insane. Jaden McDaniels is a nice role player lol, but he's not a deal breaker for a star.

Windhorst is saying that Miami probably won’t be able to retain Norm Powell as an UFA. They’re going to have a tough time filling out that roster with guard…perhaps there’s a team with redundant 6’5” shooting guards they could reach out to. Do they have any draft capital left to trade?

Pretty surprised that Minny made this trade to dump Randle. I get it that it gives them lots of cap space to re-sign their guys, but Randle averaged 21 ppg for them last year, and he was a major part of their team. I guess they decided he can't be the starting PF on a title team? Pretty wild to basically pay to get rid of him for nothing. That makes them really look like the big losers in the KAT / Randle trade, now that KAT is smoking cigars on a championship parade float. Oops.

So the Giannis trade is finally done. Milwaukee got a decent haul of picks. Not sure how much I like it for Miami. They'll need to put depth around Giannis, particularly shooters and guards. I suppose they can get some of them on the FA market, but can they really put a title contending roster in place? We shall see. I don't feel like they gave up any players that I would be heartbroken to lose. The main loss is all those picks, a lesson we know all too well. And they got Portis, too? That's a pretty good throw-in.

But like, after this trade, would you put the new look Heat ahead of the Knicks? The Celtics? Or even the Cavs? It feels like they'd be 3rd or 4th in the East at best. Let's revisit after they fill out the roster a bit.

This feels like the Suns emptying the clip for KD and then not being able to sufficiently fill out the roster. I don't fear Miami at all.

For real? Powell seems absolutely necessary…is Giannis going to do all the dribbling. They need some perimeter scoring

Norm Powell was tremendous for them and without him and Herro idk who is gonna shoot from the perimeter for Miami.

That kind of deal might honestly make sense for both teams. I like Grayson here, but I think we could get more value out of his salary slot. FWIW Grayson makes $16.8m / year while Portis makes $13.5m. Both guys are on 3-year deals. The trade works in the ESPN trade machine.

I forget. Can Powell be included with other players in a sign & trade? Something like Green for Powell & Portis?
Go Suns!

Heat remind me of the 23-24 Suns. Top heavy and about to fill out their roster with a Watanabe, Bate-Diop, Metu poo-poo platter.

It’s not like Giannis or Bam are always healthy either.

They have kind of the opposite problem we had. Loaded up with bigs, no guards or shooting. Maybe they'll have an easier time than we did because it's probably easier to fill in some of those guard spots. But I still think they'll have a hard time building a well rounded roster.

Blazers announce their new coach, who is on a 1-year contract presumably for $1m, as requested by their El Cheapo owner.

Yeah. Good haul.

Heat could really use a 40% 3-point shooting 6-5 small forward now.
Haha so focused on removing O'Neale. In a way I get it but he is not a problem in any way so dumping him would not be a priority for me. I am totally open to trading him but a straight dump for a couple of seconds is too little of a benefit for us. I mean, he makes just 10M, is a sniper, good vet, etc. and as is we even can use the full MLE. Even on the development side of things, word is already out that Fleming will get a lot of playing time or even the starting role so literally O'Neale is not blocking anything for us.
Ott needs to be saved from himself.

And I think the only way have the full MLE is if we let Mark walk and shed some other salary.

I doubt Boston does that unless the relationship with Brown really falls apart now that it's kind of out there that they tried to trade him for Giannis. Trade might appeal to BOS because they get picks and a white guy.

Article describing the decay at MIL that helped lead to Giannis's departure.
