Would Charlotte really have said no to top-5 protection???
Not technically possible. 2033 is the farthest tradeable pick so you can't make it "else 2034", only offer a 2033 second round pick in exchange if an hypothetical protected range hits. But that 2033 second round was already used to trade up for Peat.

Honestly, trading an unprotected first for Miles Bridges is malpractice and an embarrassing look for the front office (Ishbia). It’s not just the value. It’s the opportunity cost. This is a prime, grade A asset and could have been used in the coming years to get a real star. And we blow it in the first week that we have access to it… for this???
The more I sit with this trade the less I like it. Just giving away that 2033 1st, which is probably a very valuable asset, as a throw-in on this deal is borderline malpractice. As others have said, we just became eligible to trade it a week ago! The money was burning a hole in our proverbial pocket. And then we trade for this guy who has huge character problems on top of some potential basketball/fit problems (lack of 3pt shooting; not great rebounder or defender). Was this really the best deal we could get? Could Ishbia and the FO please try to make a single deal without throwing in our most valuable few remaining picks as sweeteners?

How is starting Miles Bridges at PF any different from starting Dillon Brooks at PF?

This is a fucking terrible trade. I can't cheer for that wretched piece of shit. My wife was a victim of DV in her previous marriage. What little she shared with me had me shaking with rage and disgusted, wanting to kill her ex if he ever came around. Now I have to watch a guy that somehow did worse than my wife's ex-husband running around in a Suns jersey?
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

If I understand it correctly, the Suns have the $15.03 million Non-Taxpayer Exception available to them. I think LeBron is looking for a lot more than that.

I'm thinking Collin Sexton might be someone they look at.

It’s a good thought exercise. If the FO let every other team know we were shopping a package of 2 veteran, 40% 3-point shooters plus our unprotected ‘33 first rounder and the best offer wins, would this have been the best offer? I highly doubt it.

From a talent perspective, this was probably a bit of an overpay, but I can see the reasoning behind it. And I like that we have done flexibility with our draft picks again. But from the human aspect of it, Bridges is an absolutely terrible person and I'm not happy to see this poor excuse for a man in a Suns jersey

I like the trade. He consistently BEATS his man to his spot, absolutely ABUSES mismatches and can SMACK the shit out of the ball if someone comes into the lane.

I also like that we are avoiding the trend of signing international players and instead are signing DOMESTIC, American players.

I think he adds additional toughness and VIOLENCE that we need.
Ooooooooof.

Pretty whelmed by this trade. I'd probably be more down on it if we hadn't already danced around a Bridges trade 16 months ago, so I always knew the probability of acquiring him was higher than the average player.

I'm glad to move on from Allen and O'Neale. Allen is a fantastic bench guard, but the guy just couldn't stay healthy. I also don't think the Suns were eager to trade him, it's just business. Vaya con Dios to O'Neale. The random 5-8 3PM games were fun, but he really couldn't do anything else consistently well.

I don't know what to think about the 2033 pick. It's so far into the future and the NBA lottery reform stuff is only in it's first stage, I think. I get the perceived expensive opportunity cost, but they've recently been managing meager draft capitol quite well.

They surely won't be taking this roster into opening night, so I'm going to hold back any roster analysis until they've made their remaining moves.

(Please grade Green for someone who can pass the damn ball.)

My wife deals with lingering neurological issues and nerve damage from concussions due to domestic violence. And now we've got this piece of shit on the team.

Appreciate the love pickle. It just has me questioning my fandom for the first time in a long time.

Also sorry to hear about your wife's past; I wouldn't wish that on anybody. Bridges really shouldn't even be in the league, and the suspension he served fell far short of adequate.

I didn’t want to make a long post because everyone has pretty much already covered all the bases. But since I’m waiting for a flight and I got 15 min to burn guess here are my 2 cents.

Like most everyone here I’m not a fan of this trade. I wish we would actually value picks at some point, and for once I wish we could win a trade, even if it’s in our own homer minds, rather than to wait and see the full picture and hope for Ott to pull another miracle out of the hat and buck the trend and whatever other cliches may apply.

On the other side of the coin, I suspect I might be overvaluing our own assets a bit. I feel like Grayson has more value in today’s game but I didn’t realize he shot 35% from the field and I thought his injuries was an isolated thing but two years in a row probably drops his trade value a bit.

That doesn’t make me any more cheerful tho. I wish we went into a trade negotiation at some point during this front office’s tenure where the other side didn’t know the full depths of our desperation and could hold our feet to the fire.

Deep sigh.

And that doesn’t even go into Bridges’ character issues. Sorry again AIG.
