The nicknames for Avila are great. Milk Chamberlain, Cream Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Nerd, Kevin McPale, Shaquille Oatmeal. LOL, I'm here for it. The league has become a bit samey with everybody prioritizing 3-point shooting and defense and fundamentals and so on. We need a few more wild players like Avila, Boban, etc.

Predictions -

Maluach will get more minutes this year, but probably only 15-20 a game, and will likely push Ighodaro to playing more PF. Fleming will get the majority of the backup PF, but unless there's injuries, there will be a numbers crunch for available minutes (except for the games they sit Williams). I don't think Fleming or Maluach will be handed a lot of time this year just for development, they're going to have to earn their minutes. Brea doesn't look like an NBA player to me, and I think he's going to end up in the G League again for most of the year. Peat looks like he knows how to play, he's probably going to take Dunn's minutes and make him expendable.

Rasheer reminds me of Tim Perry, who was drafted by the Suns the same year Majerle was picked (Perry was #7 selection that year).
Perry was obviously talented, but very passive. He came from Temple, which had a rigid system run by an overbearing coach.
Perry had trouble adjusting to the more free-flowing play of the NBA and Cotton Fitzsimmons.
Rasheer seems to be of the same semi-passive mindset... hope he can adapt.
My thinking is Peat may take his minutes with his strong presence on the court.
It's early, and I hope I'm wrong ... I think Fleming could be a very solid player.

I'm still pretty high on Fleming. I think he has a long career ahead of him as a 3&D guy. His shooting confidence falters sometimes, but we've seen that in other productive players. His defensive mindset never falters, and that will carry him. He'll never be the guy who takes over the game with the ball in his hands, but he can be a real impact player off the ball and on D.

Peat is showing why his game is right for Summer League. I think it'll translate to the real games as well, but we will have to see.

IMO Summer League is not a great showcase for role players like Fleming. SL seems to be dominated by guys who do well with the ball in their hands, like guards, big men with handles, or chuckers. A 3-and-D guy like Fleming who has okay handles but isn't really a natural offensive initiator can kind of get lost in the morass of guys trying to prove themselves in SL. I still think he's playing pretty well and I'm content with what I am seeing from him. Still think he deserves ever-increasing rotation minutes this season.

I think absolute best case scenario is guy like Jaden McDaniels if Fleming gets his confidence right, otherwise he's just a rotational defensive piece.

Nice highlights. I am jealous. I love Gillespie but really wish we had a young guy like this to develop who was an amazing passer. We need that so badly on this team. Think of how many of our guys would be unlocked by having somebody who could hit them with great passes like these.

Khaman Maluach on what’s grown most off the court from his rookie to sophomore season:

“I think I’ve always had the mental edge. I just had to go to the next level. Basketball is almost 90% mental than physical. Learning from older guys, reaching out to other bigs in the NBA and being able to learn from them.”
