2026 NBA Offseason
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
Markieff Morris deserved that shove. Cam Payne one was pretty bad.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
I think your opinion is biased because you don’t like Markieff. Jokic ended his career with that…Markieff wasn’t innocent, but Jokic escalated it to something that cost Markieff his career.

Never forget: Lon Babby once called the Morris twins the cornerstones of the franchise

I enjoyed watching this huge bitch getting punked liked that lol fuck the morris twins they probably have an OF account with each otherWally_West wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2026 11:25 amNo it didn’t!!! lol he played 3 more seasons after that too
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
I get why you might think that but I’ll be honest I was really not following the Suns so hard the few years the Morrii twins ran amok on the team and had to later look up why they were so hated.
I did watch that game when Jokic shoved Markieff and Markieff was instigating it by quietly bumping (or was it tripping) Jokic on a time out (or was it end of game). I think there are certain people in life who push the boundaries and take advantage of others being nice, and once in a while they go too far or poke the wrong bear. Jokic, at some point in his career, definitely had a temper problem, that much was very obvious with the Cam Payne slap. But the Payne incident was unprovoked, whereas Markieff definitely provoked him, and maybe this is the missing step where I didn’t show my work, but I don’t think that little shove or trip was the only cause — I think Markieff had constantly used little tricks throughout the game and it built up to a boiling point. Honestly you can say his shove was a little dirty because it was from behind the back, but in the heat of the moment I can’t see anybody running up to the front of the man he wants to confront before making a move.
I don’t love Markieff, but in this case I don’t think my personal preference (or lack thereof) figures into whether I think Jokic is dirty.
As for him being “injured for the rest of his career” I guess you take that claim much more literally than I would. Markieff was barely a real player at that point and most role players, especially big men who are not known for being immensely skilled who are in their 30s, struggle to stay healthy to begin with.

I'm with pickle on this one. The shove didn't affect MM's playing time or earnings over the next few seasons. He was already aging out of his role, and was absolutely not a great teammate. Sounds like Miami was looking for an excuse to bench him. He was on minimum contracts before the shove, so it didn't cost him any money.
"Hey, Jane - get me off this crazy thing called love." - Charlie, but also Suns fans wishing we didn't have to watch more 4th quarter small ball but knowing we will tune in for the next game.

Bennedict Mathurin signs with the Pelicans. He's never been my favorite player (bit of a ball stopper, not great 3pt shooter) but he has undeniably improved. I liked him a lot for Indiana a season ago. Not sure if he's exactly what the Pels need, but they are in a bad place and probably just need an infusion of young talent.

I think it’s hard to say it didn’t affect his playing time…he played 1200 minutes in every season of his career up to the injury and then he played less than 1000 total the next 3 years.O_Gardino wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2026 7:17 amI'm with pickle on this one. Sure, it’s possible he was on the way out and it’s just coincidental that it happened when he got hurt, but he was still playing regularly up to the injury.
It’s not like he was 36, he was 32 when the injury happened.
Regardless, how it impacted Markieff’s future is only part of it. It was a dangerous play by Jokic, that at minimum cost Markieff that season(missed 58 games). No one would be cool with it if Draymond, Dort, or Beverley did it.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
I had forgotten about this exchange. Here's the video of it:
Markieff hits Jokic pretty hard as he's trying to go for a half-court shot. Jokic retaliates with a hard shove and Kieff falls to the floor. I can understand the play in the moment (guy gives you a dirty hit, you get him back) but it's a shame that it seems to have legitimately injuried Markieff. That's not cool. Jokic is so big that a hard collision like that can be really dangerous.

"And Jokic...OH NO!"
He got him good, that's for sure.

Whatever you think about Markieff, that was an undeniably dirty play by Jokic.

Yep, and the big man definitely has a temper although not unprovoked in this case.wpmiller42 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2026 11:30 amWhatever you think about Markieff, that was an undeniably dirty play by Jokic.

I think maybe we all need to align on the definition of dirty. My guess is everyone has a different interpretation for the word, just like many years ago I realized not all people had the same definition for homerism.wpmiller42 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2026 11:30 amWhatever you think about Markieff, that was an undeniably dirty play by Jokic.
For me, there are definitely several tiers to being dirty and Jokic isn’t near the top of that list.
