Diamondbacks 2017

Post by LazarusLong »

Any predictions?

I think they win 77 games.

Starting pitching will be better, but bullpen is still very iffy.
Hitting slightly better, but defense is mediocre with Tomas, Lamb and Drury at LF, 3B and 2B.

Nice comeback win today.

I'll keep an eye on them because as an M's fan, I never wanted to move Taijuan Walker.
👀 Fire Frank Vogel.

I was surprised he locked down that #3 spot. Didn't get to see many spring training games down here but I heard he looked excellent.

Watched the Opening Day game yesterday with my dad. Exciting game and great comeback. We came back 3 times in this game. To be down a run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th against arguably the best closer in the MLB (most saves since 2014 in all of baseball with a sub -2.00 ERA). Great stuff.

Fun facts:

- Bumgarner is the first pitcher in Major League Baseball history to hit 2 HR's in an Opening Day game.
- This was the first walk off game winner in Dbacks home opener history.

After three games:

[*]Team can hit and score runs.
[*]Drury has very limited range at second
[*]Bullpen, aside from Bradley (!) very unsettled
[*]Walker the best starter so far, although he had his shaky moments

Fell asleep at the end of the Ws game before I could find a stream. How did Walker look?

He looked really good after the rough couple of early innings. Really got in a groove and was able to persevere. Really loved his mental fortitude to work through some jams and put together some really good innings. If only all of our pitchers had that level of mental toughness. Hopefully it becomes contagious.

Thanks, AIG. A solid #3 would do wonders for this team if Corbin and Greinke could get back on track.

Crushed the Indians tonight. 11 to 2. What a fun game to watch! I'm going to have to go to a game soon. The atmosphere was great tonight. This team continues to impress. They push the pedal. I love it.

Um so we just beat the defending AL champs to go 5-1 to start the season. Grienke looked good and Hazelbaker is batting 1.000 going 6 for 6 as a D'Back so far.

6 for 6 plus a walk! Insane.

Two series wins over two top teams. Curious to see how Corbin does today. He pitched well in spring last year, also, and came up short during the regular season.

Not a big worry, as there's Banda who could start, as well as De La Rosa late of the Rockies. And Bradley looked great in long relief a couple of games back.

Nice W today. Corbin worked out of some jams including a big DP.

Agreed. This was the pre-Tommy John surgery Corbin. Nice showing over a usually solid-hitting team.

Bradley also continues to dazzle in long relief.

10 game road trip, including the Dodgers. This will be interesting.

Yep. This will really show us what the team has right now. 3 @ SF, 4 @ LAD, 3 @ SD. Would love to go 5-5 or 6-4 on this first long road swing through the West Coast.

Ha! The good thing is this is a self-inflicted loss, more or less.
