Valve Trombones aren't real trombones. Those are what they give trumpet players when the are desperate for bone players.
I'll assume Superbone agrees with me.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
Most definitely. Also the sound quality of a slide trombone is far superior to that of a valve trombone due to the extra, tight tubing on a valve trombone versus the open tubing on a slide trombone.Nodack wrote:Valve Trombones aren't real trombones. OK, there we go. One degree of separation. I knew Eric well. Sat next to him in the trombone section of the Young Sounds jazz big band when we were in high school. I know his brother Dave, the minister (and sax player), pretty well too.JCSunsfan wrote:Ha. Fellow music geeks. Just as a bit of trivia. Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
Have you all seen this about Lonzo Ball and his own signature shoe from his family's "Big Baller Brand"?
http://www.slamonline.com/kicks/lonzo-b ... hsxhbWh.97
I actually think Ball is going to be a good player, but I hope we don't draft him. I just think his dad is going to force him to a big market like L.A. cause it just sounds like his dad is all about endorsement and he's pulling Lonzo along with him. I used to think that his Lonzo's dad wouldn't be an issue, but now you've got your son selling $495 shoes before he's even played a minute in the NBA? C'mon.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
I'm a little worried that the report that we prefer ball is true. Makes me kinda hope LA lands #1 and takes Ball. That way we have to pick Fultz. That being said, I'm not opposed to Ball the player, just think passing on Fultz would be a big mistake.
Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
I'm concerned with the circus that could come with Ball, namely his father, and the feeling that Phoenix isn't a big enough market for him. That would start the clock as to when he's leaving for LA, NY, etc.
Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
I'm honestly not worried about that Ball dad stuff. If you look at the new CBA, it has huge financial penalties for leaving a team as a free agent and signing somewhere else. If we draft him, he will make way, way more money staying with us for his first several big contracts. Even his did will be able to do that math. If they demand a trade, fine, at least we'll make the Lakers give us assets for him. But I just don't think it would come to that. I also think Lonzo Ball is his own person and won't let his father dictate what team he plays for.
Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
It's just the headache and potential distractions though. That kind of stuff can eat away at a team and its chemistry. I know I'm sounding a bit dramatic but I'd rather just avoid all of that. Even getting assets back in a trade isn't the same as getting a great player who wants to be on your team. If Booker wanted out and we got some good assets for him, would it be the same as having a 20 yr old Booker who's just scratching the surface?
Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
I believe that if the Suns are in the position to draft Lonzo and they are convinced that this is the road that's best, that they will have to go all in on the Ball family. What I mean is that they will probably give assurances that they will pick Gelo next year, even if he's not good enough to be drafted, which is most likely the case. They will also ask the Ball family to move to Phx, and hand them the keys to the franchise with the idea that Lonzo with Booker and the current young talent that is already on the roster will lead them to a championship.
I have a feeling that Magic and the Lakers are playing like they will take Lonzo, but in truth they have their eyes on another. Although, Lonzo would fit well with their team.

I really liked the little bit of Fultz I saw, wish I caught more games but Washington was terrible and accessing college ball online streams not as easy as NBA

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
I would doubt Lavar Ball, his company, and the offensively priced $495 Lonzo Ball shoes, but this is America. In this country, Lavar Ball will probably be on the cover of Forbes in less than 10 years after becoming a billionaire.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
We're stupid if we make promises to draft the younger ball brothers. I'm sure we learned something from the Morris fiasco. And I don't know which ball brother is which, but if you're talking about the one headed to UCLA next year, he's not an NBA prospect.In2ition wrote:I believe that if the Suns are in the position to draft Lonzo and they are convinced that this is the road that's best, that they will have to go all in on the Ball family. Re: 2017 NBA Draft Lottery
Here's where I've settled on the lottery as far as how I'll feel about it. We'll probably get the 4th pick since it has the highest odds for an individual pick for us. If we get 1-3, we got lucky. If we get 5, we had bad luck. If we get 1 or 2, I'll be ecstatic.
