Suns Summer League
Re: Suns Summer League
Can we have a re-do where JJ sees Boston and we get Tatum?Cap wrote:Other stats of note:
Bender, Chriss, Josh Jackson and Reed all have fg% in the 30's and 3p% in the teens or 20’s.
Chriss is averaging 7.3 turnovers and 7.3 fouls in 32 minutes.
Re: Suns Summer League
Boston's people are too smart. They would have seen Jackson and then still picked Tatum.

Jordan Bell, #38 bought by the Warriors from the Bulls (putrid offseason by them all things considered) for 3.5M, just recorder a 5x5 with 5 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 6 blocks.
This is one of the specimens I had my eye on and I know I was not alone.

Re: Suns Summer League
I loved Tatum going into the draft and I do wonder what would've happened had JJ worked out for them. With Jaylen Brown and Crowder, they might've found JJ redundant for them. I think, not knowing about Hayward, they would've hedged their bets and still taken Tatum for his scoring. That was the thinking among pundits...take JJ as the defender if you know you're getting Hayward or take Tatum and get the perimeter scorer you need since Hayward isn't a guarantee. Watching Tatum, I'm not sure how he would've fit next to Booker. We would've had two extremely talented scorers and Tatum has proven to be a very good rebounder thus far. He can move between the 3 and 4 pretty easily. But he's an ISO scorer in the halfcourt. Would that have worked with Book? Probably, but it might've turned into "your turn, my turn". I also don't know that we have a solid enough Xs and Os coaching staff to get creative to get each guy their own looks. With JJ, we have versatility, another ball handler, stout defender and added athleticism in the open floor. If he can continue taking his man off the dribble, slashing to the hoop while Book operates more on the perimeter, we'll have a nice 1-2 punch. Just the same, we could've put Tatum on the block and played inside-out.

Also Caleb Swanigan is tearing it up for Portland. Really wish the Suns would have grabbed him. He just has too much motivation NOT to be a good player in this league. His motor is off the carts. He's almost a Draymond clone at this point, minus the defense.

Tatum and Jackson are averaging the same points and rebounds. Jackson leads in assists, blocks, and steals. Tatum has been more efficient of a scorer. It's also summer league and means nothing.Superbone wrote:Yeah, I'm just sitting back and SMH. Re: Suns Summer League
Random observations
Troy Williams is having a very nice summer league with Houston.
Ball and Ingram look ok in the summer league, but I'm not writing off their pick this year. Ingram is averaging 1 rebound per game, and Lonzo can't shoot at all.
Tatum is hitting his 3s, which is one area people wanted him to improve. Well, he did.
Marrkannen is rebounding pretty well, but not shooting great.

All of this is true, but going overboard over SL stats is what fans do. I know im guilty of itSplit T wrote:Tatum and Jackson are averaging the same points and rebounds.
