Suns News: Preseason 2017
Re: Suns News: Preseason 2017
Who has a better shot at the ASG, Alex Len or Mike James?
Re: Suns News: Preseason 2017
Len has more $ to buy a ticket, but James seems like the type to go see the game with a rowdy group of friends.OE32 wrote:Who has a better shot at the ASG, Alex Len or Mike James?
My vote: Mike James

That's what yoga is for.Ring_Wanted wrote:Mock nostalgia if you want but at this point in his career and given our current state, his presence is less about making baskets and more about team culture and chemistry. The 3.5M saved are neglible to a team in our situation.specialsauce wrote:He was many things, not a smart player though and not somebody that offers anything for the young guys to learn from.Ring_Wanted wrote:I don't know about Jok (or Reed), but the 3.5M in cap space we gained by waiving Barbosa were of no use to us at the time and it's been confirmed given the lack of big moves this summer. You can't get your mouth full with culture, experience, know-how etc, and get rid of one of the very few cheap(-ish) homegrown vets you have.O_Gardino wrote:I agree about Barbosa. I guess it gives us some flexibility if we bring on more salary at some point, but exactly what does Jok do that Barbs can't?Ring_Wanted wrote:Move Bledsoe and Chandler. Keep Dudley for veteran presence and team culture (in that regard, I hated that they cut Barbosa, btw).

I'd think so. He's the only one left that hasn't shown anything.O_Gardino wrote:One more has to go. Probably Milsap.

Do we not get an injury exception spot for Brandon Knight? I don't think we need to waive Millsap

I don't think anybody actively wants to keep Milsap. We are just discussing if we HAVE to drop someone, or if we can carry 18 guys.

Ya, I have no interest in Millsap, just stating we don't technically need to cut him.
Re: Suns News: Preseason 2017
It wouldn't be the Suns without a less talented brother on the roster.
Re: Suns News: Preseason 2017
Preseason's not over, but I have some awards to hand out nonetheless:
Most Fun - Josh Jackson. It's fun to watch the ascension of a superstar. I actually love his high-arcing J.
3 Biggest Disappointments.
-- Eric Bledsoe. I understand he has more to lose and less to gain from summer league and that he would prefer consequential basketball. But if he were playing like a superstar, that might get these young guys to believe in what we're doing. Self-fulfilling prophecy. Thanks for the leadership, I guess.
-- Tyler Ulis. Dude has just about lost his spot in the rotation. Did not see that coming.
-- Derrick Jones Jr. Dude has barely played, and hasn't looked good in the few minutes he's had. Maybe going up against TJ and JJ every day in practice is demoralizing.
3 Biggest Improvements.
-- Marquese Chriss. 3/4 good rebounding games; 3/4 good shot-blocking games. More of that, pls. His biggest issue currently is his shot not falling. If he continues to do the rest, Quese will finally be earning his minutes.
-- Alex Len. Did not expect to come in and start looking so clearly like a rotation player. People complain about his hands but never remark about the fact that on the glass, his hands are in fact very good. It's been that way for a while.
-- TJ Warren. If only there was a bigger sample size. He looked incredible that first game - improved on both ends, putting it together. TJ very well could be our best player this season.
Best Player - Mike James. It's just how it is. I didn't give him biggest surprise, because he's dominated summer league the last two years. I've not always liked the way he's played, but I've yet to see him suck.

Don't forget that Ulis is playing himself back into shape coming off an injury.OE32 wrote:-- Tyler Ulis. Dude has just about lost his spot in the rotation. Did not see that coming.
