Morris twins charged with felony assault
Re: Morris twins charged with felony assault
My only objection is that I don't know why the team thought there was any chance that this would work out. Of course Markieff was going to be furious that we traded his brother. We should have either shipped them out as a package, or we should have been lighting up the phones trying to trade him the moment we shipped Marcus out. This was always going to end badly if we just tried to waltz into training camp with Markieff still on the roster. After watching the brothers, behavior last year, he wasn't going to just "tough it out" and figure out how to play without his bro.
Re: Morris twins charged with felony assault
Just tell him that if he wants out, he better shut up and play. No way are we giving him away just because he wants out. We get a good offer, that makes sense for the team fine. Teams and players have gotten over more than this. I remember when Kobe was demanding a trade from the Lakers.
Now for the way out conspiracy theory. This is all coming from Gambo. If Kieff really wanted to stick it to Gambo, he would let his "sources" say how angry he is etc. And then when Kieff finally meets with the media, be all calm and nice and say there is no problem whatsoever and Gambo's sources are bogus. Leave Gambo with egg on his face.
Wishful thinking, but Oh well.

Re: Morris twins charged with felony assault
I think the Morris brothers were a big part of the locker room dysfunction last year and wouldn't be opposed to trading him.
I don't know what kind of potential deals I would make, but I might see if the Timberwolves would be willing to part with Bennett and a first rounder? I'm probably in the minority, but I still think Bennett has a chance to become a serviceable player in the league. I think injuries have slowed him and I'd like to see what our medical staff could do with him.

You can't fix asthma tho, right? I guess the sleep apnea can be handled but the asthma is a real issue.wpmiller42 wrote:I think the Morris brothers were a big part of the locker room dysfunction last year and wouldn't be opposed to trading him.

Re: Morris twins charged with felony assault
I got the feeling like there were certain cliques last year that fed the negativity and bad influence in the lockerroom. I think the Morris Bros were a part of that, Tucker was a part of it, maybe Gerald Green and it could've influenced a young guy like Archie. Archie concerns me because he still seems very immature and impressionable. The difference between a guy like him and Booker are night and day. I don't think Archie is a lost cause, but I think it may be time to move on from him as part of the roster shakeout.
Re: Morris twins charged with felony assault
I think I saw some tweets back and forth between Marcus and Archie where Mook was telling Goodwin that he should keep working hard and that it'll work out for him, even though it probably won't be here in Phoenix. If those malcontents have his ear, they could be poisoning his attitude.ShelC wrote:I got the feeling like there were certain cliques last year that fed the negativity and bad influence in the lockerroom. Re: Morris twins charged with felony assault
Unfortunately for us, I think Archie has the ability to be a serviceable player in this league, but it won't happen here. He needs to be shaken up a bit, and that will likely require a complete change in his life.

Trade ideas for Markieff:
Wizards - would give them a 3 big rotation of Nene, Gortat, Markieff
Jazz - likewise, Jazz could play him with favors or Gobert
Raptors - upgrade over Patrick Patterson
Kings - good fit alongside Cauley-stein and cousins
Trailblazers - upgrade over Ed Davis
Timberwolves - could play with towns or dieng
Pelicans - is he a better fit than ryan Anderson
Mavs - lacking in quality big men
Knicks - decent fit alongside robin
Lakers - upgrade at 4 and good fit alongside Hibbert
Pistons - great fit next to Drummond, reunited with Marcus
Rockets - good fit, but is he any better than jones or motejunas
Pacers - lacking in quality big men
I think these teams would be interested, not sure what kind of offers we'd get.
Markieff for ryan Anderson?
Julius Randle?
Patrick Patterson?
Noah vonleh?
Trey lyles?
Terrence jones or donatas motejunas?

I just want something of value rather than dumping him just to get his sorry ass out of town.
He definitely doesn't deserve any special treatment.

The way I see it is that we are better off from a locker room standpoint to get him out of here ASAP. Why let him poison the well?Superbone wrote:I just want something of value rather than dumping him just to get his sorry ass out of town.

If we aren't going to get much for him, are you suggesting we keep him and let the poison seep in everywhere?
Re: Morris twins charged with felony assault
I think that once he has to report here and he is away from his brother, things will settle some. Remember, he still has not said anything publicly. Also, I don't really care about not speaking to the team or players this off-season. His agent is speaking.Indy wrote:The way I see it is that we are better off from a locker room standpoint to get him out of here ASAP. I am not a big fan of keeping Kieff on the team long term, but I am a fan of doing everything necessary to settle any frustration rather than add to it.
Let him come back. Let him play well. Treat him with respect. Let him get beyond the legal issues. Then trade him when a good deal works out. I do not believe he is going to be a big distraction in the locker room without his brother AND with Chandler, Knight, and company in the room. Even Sonny Weems is going to add alot to the lockerroom this season.
At some point, his agent is going to reign this in.

I was tempted to make up some scenarios and absolutely agree Wazards and Toronto look like great trading partners.Split T wrote:Trade ideas for Markieff:

I even have fantasized about a three way where PJ goes to Cleveland for a part of their trade exception.
Something like
Suns out PJ, Kieff, Archie.
Suns in Humphreys, Temple, 1stR from Was, 1stR from Cle, 2ndR Was.
Was out Humphries, Temple, 1stR pick, 2ndR.
Was in Kieff, Archie.
Cle out Trade exception, 1stR.
Cle in PJ.
I toy with removing Archie and maybe adding cash for the Cavaliers.

As for Toronto,
Kieff for Ross, Nogueira, 1stR.

Markieff for ryan Anderson? I wish. Anderson when healthy is a top role player at something that is all the rage today.
Julius Randle? I wish harder, but despite the injury concerns, he is an alleged jewel. You don't move that for a guy like Markieff Morris. If they do, by all means take it and run.
Patrick Patterson? I think Toronto would want to add to their PF rotation, not just move pieces around.
Noah vonleh? Not happening if Portland is consistent with their advised direction.
Trey lyles? Could see it happening if the Jazz commit to winning.
Terrence jones or donatas motejunas? I think Houston wouldn't see it as a big jump in overall quality. For a Bosh, sure. They have experience trading out one Morris.
Re: Morris twins charged with felony assault
I haven't seen anything that tells me Keef wasn't a distraction last year, nor that he won't be this year. Sure, Chandler might keep him in check because of his play in the past, but I am not sure how much of a locker room leader he is. And why would Knight keep him in check? I don't get that.JCSunsfan wrote:I think that once he has to report here and he is away from his brother, things will settle some. Remember, he still has not said anything publicly. Knight seems to be a positive player and a leader. I think the addition of those two will change the environment. My take is that Keef feeds off those around him while Mook is more of an instigator.Indy wrote:I haven't seen anything that tells me Keef wasn't a distraction last year, nor that he won't be this year. That is the same thing as selling him for pennies on the dollar. Who would give up good assets for a guy that is so bad we won't even play him?Superbone wrote:How about we just tell him to stay home until we find a deal we like?Indy wrote:The way I see it is that we are better off from a locker room standpoint to get him out of here ASAP. Agreed. I think the season can't start with Kieff still on the roster. Grant his wish as soon as possible.
