Suns News: Week 13 1/19-1/25
Re: Suns News: Week 13 1/19-1/25
The other thing Simmons isn't accounting for in his trade value of Markieff is that if you want Kieff, you have to take Marcus. Their deals go together as a package and are $12m/year, not just the $8m/year for Markieff. I still think it's a decent deal, but it isn't as much of a bargain at that point.

Keef isn't a good defensive player either.

I'd argue he's top 10 on our current roster.Indy wrote:Keef isn't a good defensive player either.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

So he is a top 10 defensive player on a team that only plays 9 guys...

That's setting the bar low...
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

I would say he is the worst front court defender we have (that plays).

Perennial 6th man of the year candidate, I am telling you. Phoenix needs to find a PF that makes defensible benching Kieff. That would be the kind of move I've look to make.
Re: Suns News: Week 13 1/19-1/25
I know this doesn't necessarily jive with what we've seen, but Kief is actually 19th in the league in Defensive Real Plus Minus.
Re: Suns News: Week 13 1/19-1/25
I think he plays ok on defense, he's got active hands and does well with face up bigs. However, he doesn't protect the rim, can get pushed around down low, and doesn't rebound.

It's hard to trust complex stats without knowing how the formulas are derived, but that leader board looks to be a pretty accurate representation of the top defenders in the NBA.Shabazz wrote:I know this doesn't necessarily jive with what we've seen, but Kief is actually 19th in the league in Defensive Real Plus Minus.
Re: Suns News: Week 13 1/19-1/25
I agree with Split T's take.
How do we expect him to come off the bench, though? He's our best halfcourt offensive option at this point, and probably about the 15th best PF in the league. Then again, we do make IT come off the bench. Hmm.

Re: Suns News: Week 13 1/19-1/25
I think Keef may benefit statistically from being the only legit PF on the roster. When he isn't on the court, we frequently have PJ Tucker or even Gerald Green at PF. (We've seen less of this since the Wright trade.) That liability makes the rest of the team look pretty bad, and Keef pretty good.

Right. It's the last two things that are a big problem for a power forward.Split T wrote:I think he plays ok on defense, he's got active hands and does well with face up bigs. However, he doesn't protect the rim, can get pushed around down low, and doesn't rebound.

I'm not trumpeting Simmons as anything but an analyst. Trumpeting means proclaiming or declaring, am I declaring Simmons as good or bad? No. I just copy and pasted his article. Sorry if that offended you, just because you disagreed with him haha.INFORMER wrote:You're trumpeting a commentator that thinks Markieff Morris has the highest trade value of any Sun on the roster. 4 Suns cracked the top 56.
Dragic was 56.
Bledsoe was 53. (Bill said he will be higher if he stays healthy this season)
Len is 50 (Nice recognition for Alex)
and the guy with the most trade value on our team according to Simmions...
Markieff Morris. who was 40. Simmons praises morris calling his extension "dirt cheap". Here is the whole link for those of you who want to click on it.
He also praises Markieff's stretch 4 game when Markieff isn't even averaging 1 make per game and is shooting 33% from 3. Again, OK.
I'm stating facts saying that Simmons is the 4th commentator in the past week that said the suns aren't afarid of anyone. Reggie miller,Barkley,Kenny Smith and now Simmons. Its funny its like any time someone gives Markieff Morris a little love you get a little pissy. You don't like him, we get it by the countless times you show up to game day threads to point out a bad play he had or a bad game he had. The stretch 4 statement again is an opinon statement on your hand. A lot of people consider stretch 4's Bigs who can hit 15-18 footers or play away from the basket which Kieff can. Maybe you don't....alright.
and BTW, Markieff Morris would bring back the biggest haul of anyone on the suns roster outside of Alex Len IMO. His contract is a lot better then Bledsoe's, he's 3yrs younger and will have a better contract then Dragic when its all said and done, and he's a better player then IT.
Its just an opinion question, but don't act like its far fetched.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Kieff sure gets slammed a lot around here for how well he is playing for us. He has also been clutch.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.
