I'm pretty sure that doesn't apply to LeBron's extension, but I may be wrong.

EDIT: It's 6 months. So it depends on what date the NBA sets for the trade deadline.
This is what the ESPN article said:
James is ineligible to be traded during the upcoming 2022-23 season because the second year of his extension exceeds a 5% raise.
I’m not familiar with that specific rule, but that’s where I got it from
The higher than 5% raise is what makes them have to wait 6 months. ESPN is probably assuming the trade deadline will be before the All-Star break again like it was this year. I wonder if the Lakers purposefully did not sign him as soon as he was eligible (August 4) so that he can't demand a trade this season.

Interesting…I didn’t know that. FWIW, on Bill Simmons most recent podcast they mentioned that LeBron and the Lakers waited to sign the contract until the day that would make him ineligible to be traded this year. Perhaps the trade deadline has been set then?

I don’t think it’s been set officially but perhaps the Lakers feel confident about what the date will be. Assuming it’s the same timeframe as last year it would be Thursday, February 9.

It appears the all-star break starts 2/17/23…LeBron signed 8/17/23. I’m assuming that means the trade deadline will be either 2/16 or 2/17. I think they like the trade deadline before the all-star break. So it does seem like he won’t be trade eligible this year.

Won't stop you fools from talking about it! :P

Does Lebron have an older brother we can sign?

Does Monty approve of his daughters dating men in their 40s?

If they're related to Lebron, one would assume so.

Westbrook and Beverley are currently on the same team.

I can't get over the Lakers keeping THT over so many of their other quality rotation players, only to dump him for the likes of Patrick Beverley.

This really sucks, hope it's not a recurring issue with him as bigs can have foot/ankle problems. He's a unique talent

What a bummer. He seems like such a fun young player and I was looking forward to watching him this season. Well, OKC gets another year to suck and get a crack at another top lottery pick.

Is now the time to go to OKC and make a big offer for SGA? Can’t imagine he’s gonna be happy to keep waiting for that team to develop…He’d be an awesome long term backcourt partner for Booker and he’s got the size that playing him with Book and CP3 is not a problem. Ayton would probably be the only thing we have that might interest them though.

If we can figure out a way to replace Chris Paul with SGA going forward, that would be huge.

SGA is the exact type of get to the rim guy that we need. I’d give up more for him than KD

I wouldn't give up more, but it is close. We are awful at getting to the rim, and that type of mindset, ability, and athleticism is SO needed.

That is what makes Ayton's lack of dribbling/aggression so frustrating (Mikal too).

Ok after thinking about it, I might not give up more, but I’d be more excited about him

I would be more excited for +2025, but not for 2022-23 or 23-24. But I get what you are saying.

Ya our 2023 title chances might not be as high, but they’d still go up imo.

With KD let’s say it’s like 33% the next 2 years and then drops off. SGA might only give us a 15-20% chance the next couple years, but he’d keep us from dropping off and we might actually go up over the future years.
