Dammit. This is garbage. It was his damn offensive system. Get us a real coach now not in 8 months.
well, if we're officially back into tank mode 3 games in, i'm definitely not getting SlingTV

Ha, at first I thought this was in regard to the Watson firing! But no, he's saying he's playing tonight.

I wish I could watch the whole video but it stops about a third of the way in for me everytime.

Seems pretty apparent in McD's interview that this firing was about Watson not focusing enough on basketball. All that family talk is nice, but they need to perform as basketball players first and that wasn't happening under Watson. Mentioned multiple times that triano is a pure basketball guy.

Yeah, well, ultimately McD was responsible for hiring Watson so he has nobody to blame except himself for this whole debacle. That's what happens when a GM learns as he goes, I'm sure he'll be excellent for the next team he goes to, having made all his mistakes here.

Don't forget that we had Kerr here before he was pushed out by Sarver. He could be our coach right now. He's done alright with that team in the Bay Area.

Hey, carey. What do you think of Monty Williams as a head coaching candidate? He had a pretty good record at NO.

Would y'all have any interest in Jeff Van Gundy? I doubt Sarver is willing to pony up for him but we need a credible coach.

I hated watching his offense. He is a really amazing guy though. Considering we just got rid of a good guy that couldn't coach I'm not sure we should rush right back into that.

Yes. I mentioned that on RealGM when the story first broke. JVG won't take a job mid-season though.

JVG you gotta make a Godfather offer. 5-6 mil a year with President of BOps so he can put his own guy in the front office to work with him. Or, at the very least, get a veteran exec he has some kind of history with where they can align on system/players.

To be fair it's not really mid-season since we're only 3 games in and this team is not looking to compete for anything. We just need to develop a better culture than what we currently have.

What's with the Van Gundy hard-on? The guy hasn't coached in 10 years, and his last team had Yao and T-Mac.

Not only do I think he's not that great of a hire, but he'd cost a fortune. Pass.

748 NBA games coached. 58% winning percentage as a Head Coach in the NBA. He'll be coaching the USA Men's Basketball team working with the stars of the league. He'll bring credibility back into this organization.

Why do you care about how much he'll cost? It's not a cap hit and it's not your money.

I don't know if he still has what it takes but I would love to have JVG as our new head coach. At least he knows stuff and he has a fantastic personality, that is important too ...

In no particular order, these would be on my realistic wish list for coach:

Jeff Van Gundy
Ettore Messina
Becky Hammon
David Blatt
Dan Majerle

Fair points.

I just get the feeling that his value is artificially inflated because he's on TV all the time.

I think Becky Hammon would be a disaster here. Its not about her coaching but about the situation. The first woman head coach needs to be able to function in a very stable situation. Her ideal would be to take over for Pop some day.

Oh, and leave Ettore for us.

Ernie Johnson for coach!
