Fair. But Upton was born in the 90s. That just hurts to even say.

What does he have to do to get get benched? I'm a Green supporter, but this game Hornacek gave him way too long of a leash. He hit the big 3 in the last minute of the game, but he didn't have to play so many minutes in order to do that. On nights like this, go to someone else, Jeff.

He's shooting 45% from the field and 44% from 3.

something's not right with the TS statistics when the top True Shooting % leader for the phx suns all time is mark west. I wouldnt want him shooting anywhere outside 5 feet from the basket.

1. Mark West .627
2. Ed Pinckney .623
3. Shaquille O'Neal .619
4. Steve Nash .617
5. Amar'e Stoudemire .606
6. Charles Pittman .602
7. Larry Nance .596
8. Jared Dudley .590
9. Oliver Miller .589
10. Jake Voskuhl .589

You need to consider attempts as well. The percentages are just that.

how many shots did mark west take? how many attempts at the FT line did mark west get per game? he wasnt a go to guy. west and shaq were bad outside shooters but both made the top three list on TS%.

How credible is that shooting statistic?

What do you mean? It measures shooting percentage. It doesn't ignore guys that dunk a lot.

I don't understand what is so "wrong" about a stat that shows that our most efficient shooters were our most efficient shooters. True Shooting Percentage doesn't measure long-distance shooting or where the shots were taken from. So what? It measures what percentage of the time you put the ball in the basket. Mark West was good at that.

Because he wasn't a scorer, OR a shooter. Good percentages just means that he got the ball in the right positions and only took the shot when it was a good one. Thats a great quality to have, but it still is a bit misleading for Mark West to be considered a scorer or shooter in any sense. He only scored in the double digits (average) during two seasons, and those were barely - and he only attempted more then 7 shots a game twice as well.

Well, TSP doesn't mean that a player is a great shooter. Just that they shoot a good percentage. It isn't a statistic's fault if the stat does not mean what you wish it meant.
