I think they understand that issue as well, and after chasing the playoffs earlier this year, have decided to continue the rebuild by moving Harris. Just read another rumor that Frye is going to the Clippers for Stephenson unless the Clips can find another suitor.

Vucevic/Oladipo/Payton/Fournier/Hezonja/Gordon is definitely an awkward fit right now. Feels like maybe the three players they'd least want to move would be Fournier, Gordon, and Hezonja, because, as you imply Mori, shooting is among the most coveted skill in the modern NBA and Fournier has proven a consistent stroke while Hezonja may still develop consistency, and Gordon brings defense and hustle and has worked hard on his outside shot. Probably harder to move a guy like Vucevic who is not going to turn into a rim protector, and they need to figure out that back court soon. The moves they made seem to suggest they realize the fit problems. You can't really fix everything in one fell swoop though.

Yeah according to some fans on RealGM we "fleeced" Riley.
I think we won that trade. Dragic undeniably got overpaid. I root for Goran and wish him the best, but he seems to have peaked and with DWade on the decline, Bosh maybe done for good, and Whiteside set to become an FA they have some retooling to do or those picks will be mid 1st-lotto picks.
I agree. He literally picked his team and said he wouldn't re-sign here. What leverage did we have? We certainly screwed the pooch with the other moves, but we won that one.
I third this notion. Given the way Dragic put the team on the spot, we did really well to score two essentially unprotected first rounders far enough into the future when Miami might start to fall in the standings.

Dragic is still a great talent, but his fit in Miami is pretty awful.
this is intersting

Miami Heat this season:

with Goran, no Wade: +62
with Goran and Wade: +8
with Wade, no Goran: -70

I like the Harris trade for both teams.

The Pistons probably figured realistically they can't get anything better through free agency and decided to move chips now with the playoffs in mind. Marcus-Harris are two tweeners but they have no pure PF now, so there should be playing time for everybody including Stanley of course. Ily's shooting is important in SVG's system but the upgrade in talent should be worth it, although you never know with key cogs like these. Worth it for Detroit.

For Orlando this is mainly a salary dumping, and the return seems too little, but there are two additional benefits. No pick makes it look bad on the value front, but this means more playing time and less competition for Gordon, plus getting a younger stretch PF allows them to move Frye. 4/64M, the first new age monster contract that gets removed, isn't it?

I wouldn't say we fleeced Miami. I'd say Ryan did a good job getting any sort of compensation for Dragic, although he probably won't be the GM by the time 2018 rolls around and he can cash in on the first pick.

I'm looking forward to the summer, to see what kind of deals these professional front office types will be throwing out there. I don't see Durant and Lebron moving this summer, and I feel like Drummond, Batum, and Conley will be staying put. After that, the best FAs are (in no particular order) Pau, Whiteside, Horford, Noah, Beal, DeRozan, Rondo, Howard, Big Al, Harrison Barnes, Sullinger, Fournier, and Ryan Anderson. No wonder people are talking max offers for Barnes.

As for Memphis and Courtney Lee, it is hard to explain for them. Lee is a consumate role player, the Birdman is done and PJ Hairston has proved right the attitude concerns before the draft.

Riley keeps showing GMs how you fight the L-tax with minimal damage.

Charlotte gets a nice patch while they grief for MKG. They have another chip in Al Jefferson's contract if they want to make further moves to make the playoffs.

Not sure Memphis has much of a plan. Gave away a good role player and got back basically nothing.

They weren't gonna give Lee a big contract this off season and without Gasol this season is lost anyway, so they turned him into a couple of second rounders. Not sure this happens if Gasol didn't get hurt.

My gut tells me we will be involved in some crazy 3/4 team trade just like last year. At this point last year nobody even knew Brandon Knight was on the block and he certainly was not linked with us. Within an Hour of the deadline IT was dealt in 1 deal followed by the 76ers/Bucks/Suns trade.

Keep an eye on OKC....They have very little depth, but may be the team best suited to challenge the Spurs. They also might try to go all in with the uncertainity of KD and Westbrook. I would not be surprised if they made a monster move possibly involving Ibaka.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Why would they trade one of their 3 best players? Maybe if they could get Blake for him or something, but otherwise what would be the point?

That seems highly unlikely, even if Griffin was part of the offering. Ibaka is the perfect complement to Durant and Westbrook. Blocks shots, plays tough defense, and hits mid range jumpers and the corner three. Griffin doesn't space the floor and needs the ball in his hands to maximize his value, and Love doesn't defend worth a lick.

If there was multiple pieces coming back their way I can see them doing it. Stranger things have happened. Regardless, OKC is a team to watch. They have an assortment of younger pieces (Payne/Mcgary) that could net them another part too and if they get the feeling KD will leave they could go any number of directions.

Rotoworld is pretty much saying anyone besides Booker and Bledsoe are up for trades, including Knight. Tyson as well but his contract is a challenge:
The Suns are playing for Ping-Pong balls this season, and it seems anyone not named Booker or Eric Bledsoe can be had for the right price. Tyson Chandler, Mirza Teletovic, P.J. Tucker, Markieff Morris, Knight and Goodwin have all been mentioned as potential trade candidates, although Chandler seems the least likely to be moved due to his unfavorable contract. Knight is currently nursing a groin injury, and he remains without a clear timetable to return.

The premise is valid, but Warren and Knight are injuried. Kieff-Tucker-Teletovic shouldn't be Suns beyond the deadline.

Anyway, you never know what will be actually done, but it should take a stupidly good offer to surrender Warren/Len.

...

Knight-Warren-Len-Kieff-PJ for Blake Griffin and expiring crap. Rivers and Pierce to Boston, Jerebko to LAC. The Clipps apparently wanted a whole lineup from the Nuggets. I am sure Phoenix can afford to make such a move. Again, injuries (and pipedreams)...

Would I trade all that stuff for Blake? Sure, but only if I had assurances he'd re-sign, which he won't give because he wants the big market. So it's kind of a moot point.

But I'd be more than fine with Bledsoe-Booker-(Ingram/Simmons/?)-Blake-Chandler and all the cap space we'd have to fill out a roster around those guys. I just couldn't in good conscience give up Len and Warren for a 1-year rental of Blake.

I just have a feeling Teletovic and PJ are going to be moved and NOT Kieff.

Which I am already on board saying I'm fine with. Really, though Kieff has been an asshole, my problem is more with the organization for not doing anything about it. Any discipline has been paltry and if it was intended to discourage certain behaviors it obviously didn't work. I don't want to set the organization back a ways in talent and compound the problem x 2 just to clear the slate. I know it's not a popular opinion but it is how I feel.

Why does Orlando want Lance Stephenson over Channing Frye? Lance is a cancerous chucker who has no value on the trade market, while Frye is a nice complementary stretch 4 and a good veteran in the locker room (though a bit past his prime).

Pretty quiet on the trade rumor front today. Not sure how to take that.

They plan on waiving Lance. I believe he's a FA after this year. they get out from under Frye's contract.
