Forgot which thread the convo started in but it had to do with Cap's sig and one of my statements. I said the players would be sick of Watson by All-Star, someone else said the opposite. I may have lost that one but I don't think I'm that far off. There's no noticeable progress as far as I'm concerned. We have no offensive identity and can't play defense. So what's he doing? I guess guys are still playing hard, but we have too much talent to be last in the West.

I don't think it would help much to fire Watson right now. He's helping us lose and get ping-pong balls. It would be awful (but very Suns-like) if we rattled off a meaningless win streak in a lost season. But I would like to see them get rid of Watson at the end of the season, for sure. He's been just plain bad. I'm a little worried that Saver and McDo like Watson much more than I do and see him as one of the pillars of the team, along with Bledsoe and Booker. :-/

Are we tanking or are we not?

Wow, what a lopsided trade. I wish I knew if we had even offered anything to Sacramento. For that kind of trade, I wouldn't even need assurances that Cousins would re-sign. I would hope just the ability to offer a higher max would be enough...

We ended in a draw. We were both wrong. Cap starts the discussion in the all-star thread.

We just got big time competition from the Kings for a top lottery pick.

Man, as dismal as the past few years have been for the Suns, at least we aren't the Kings. The amount of sheer incompetence running that team is almost stunning. Their future outlook stinks, too, as they don't have a lot of future assets other than their own draft pick in 2018, which relies on them being bad for another year or two. No reason to watch a Kings game for 2-3 years to come.

We've got a six game lead on them. Plus, if they pass the sixers up in draft position, the sixers can swap picks with them. So they have no incentive to completely bottom out.

They have six games on us with 25 to play. At our current pace we'll go about 8-17, which would mean the Kings would have to go 2-23 to catch us and swap picks with the Sixers.

This trade appears lopsided but it would be interesting to see what offers they actually received from other teams.
I expect that we wanted to include Len, Knight and maybe Warren in a deal with the Kings while keeping our pick this year. If anyone is willing to take our garbage for anyone, I would be surprised. We would have had to include Bledsoe or Booker to make this happen.
It will also be interesting how this works in New Orleans. This is currently a 7 SOL league. To compete you need to be able to fill it up from the 3 point line.
I will be rooting for Gentry to have success. One of the good guys, that got screwed over by Babby. I hope he is able to keep Cousins under control.

The only reasonable explanation as to why Boogie is currently not on his way to Phoenix right now is either Sacramento is upset that McDonough fleeced Marquese Chriss from them; McDonough did not believe Cousins was going to re-sign with Phoenix; or the Kings front office is really this inext.
Exactly my train of thought. Or they are just really really really in love with Buddy Hield.

I would think that the Sixers got the better part of this trade then. Smh

Must be the case.
I just hope we still have a good relationship with that King's front office ...

Perhaps the Kings traded their #8 when they saw Hield was picked one spot before their turn. Maybe Hield was the only reasonable prospect available that they wanted. Regardless, overall it is a pathetic deal for the Kings, and if you wanted Hield that bad, I bet a three way trade could have landed them Buddy. Poor Kings fans...

Kinda sounds like there was an ultimatum thrown out by Cousins. That or he nixed the better deal by saying he wouldn't resign with the new team after next year.
Either way it still sucks for the fans.
