So that basically means guaranteed jail time given the rating?

I wonder if the suns are going to put him on double secret probation.

I'd say he needs to do it. How fast is the justice system in AZ? His trial might not be till what, next April or May? LOL.

I don't get why rich athletes drive home drunk. Do you really not know one single friend who will be your DD? Are you really not willing to hire some dude to come along and be your bodyguard / DD? So dumb.

PJ is supposed to be one of our "leaders," too. Some example that sets.

I am not one of these puritan types who demonizes drugs and alcohol. But drunk driving, I freaking hate. It has affected people close to me, on both sides. And it's so preventable.

Didn't the team set up some sort of complimentary taxi service for the players, as well?

He's probably an alcoholic if he's able to drive a car with so much alcohol in his system. :?

I agree. PJ should go to jail for this. 60 days at least.

They should make a reality show about his jail time. Planet Orange is the New Black?

You have to wonder how many times he did it without getting caught. I am serious. He should get jail time, no special celebrity treatment.

I'm cool with that, as long as he gets to serve his time during the off season.

NO way. During the season. The Suns should have some consequence for paying him that deal knowing what he did. AND he should be suspended for the time he is in jail so he doesn't get paid.

I think the legal matter will be separate from the NBA/Suns handling of the matter. My guess is that the courts will allow him to serve his time during the off-season while the NBA/Suns will suspend him for a couple games to start the season. No doubt he'll have to have one of those breathalizer things installed in his car.

Who knows, maybe it leads to TJ Warren taking over the starting SF slot full time much like Frye got the starting PF slot after Markieff was suspended for the first couple games last year.

Technically, it's just what he "allegedly" did. Standard operating procedure in cases like this is for teams and the league to treat the player with a presumption of innocence until the case is resolved. Assuming he is convicted, he will be given a suspension; the standard suspension for DUI is two games. (I would not be opposed to harshening that standard, but that's up to the league and the players' union.)

Being able to schedule a short jail sentence around one's work schedule is not special celebrity treatment; "normal" people can do it too.

Mark Grace didn't go to tent city until after his second offense. My guess is Tucker gets probation, maybe a stint in rehab. And the NBA spanks him with a two-game suspension.

According to the law (A.R.S. 28-1382), the minimum sentence for a 1st offense with BAC >= 0.20 is 45 days in jail (plus fines and assessments that are a pittance for someone of Tucker's means).

People make mistakes. I have friends and family members that have been charged with DUI's. They aren't bad people and they just made a bad choice. P.J. Has no prior incidents of getting in trouble, so it would not of effected me if I was negotiating a new contract with him.

Agreed. We probably all have someone in our lives that this applies to, and possibly don't even know it. I'm just happy that the police are around to catch someone making the mistake and holding them accountable. People make mistakes and that doesn't make them bad people. It's just the danger of making a mistake that could cause a real tragedy.
