He’s only going to get better as the season goes on.
Re: Suns News: Week 1 (10/21 - 10/27)
He'd do even better if KD and Book consistently let him initiate the offense.
Re: Suns News: Week 1 (10/21 - 10/27)
At least they aren't bringing back Mr. Orange.

Good for Tyus.
Also, "Since merger"? Which player did better than 8/0 in their Suns debut before the merger? Gail Goodrich was 10/x and it's possible he didn't turn the ball over. Any other great passing debuts back in the day?
It's got me curious, so maybe Bobster and the other big brains here can educate me. Were turnovers less common in the old days? The fact that they weren't tracked could indicate that they weren't much of a problem. Also, the way the game was called forced a more cautious style of play - a lot of plays that are turnovers now would have been fouls then.

I would say that he's probably feeling a bit exposed without the face paint, haha.

I like the court…but I need to see it in an actual game before I really decide

Here's your answer. They didn't track them for players until the merger:O_Gardino wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 7:03 amGood for Tyus.

The NBA began tracking team turnovers during the 1973-74 season and started tracking turnovers for individual players during the 1977–78 season subsequent to the NBA-ABA merger.

Consistent, too: +14, +14, and +18 in three games.
The guy at the other end of the spectrum is Nurk, but that’s all because of the Lakers game (+3, -19, 0).

Re: Suns News: Week 1 (10/21 - 10/27)
Teams averaged about 20 turnovers a game from 1973-74 to 1978-79 and they've been going down gradually since then. I would guess that the increase in three-point shooting has affected it some, game pace does too of course. But 20 a game to about 14-15 a game is pretty significant (which is where it's been for the last 20 years).O_Gardino wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 7:03 amGood for Tyus.

This is kind of surprising, as it seemed like he was doing some wild stuff that was driving me nuts in the Lakers game. I was sure he was -15 in that one.

Sneakers and swats: Ryan Dunn’s unorthodox path to UVA

It sounds like basketball wasn't even his original sport or passion. The fact that he probably never had someone really helping him develop a shot until now with the Suns is amazing. It explains so much and it is truly luck for us that it caused him to slip so far in the draft. Sky is the limit!Dunn’s future in basketball is bright, but his path to this point has been unorthodox.
Baseball rather than basketball was the No. 1 sport in the household growing up in Freeport, New York, as Ryan followed his older brother Justin’s path. Justin, seven years older than Ryan, showed his brother a path to success in athletics.
The elder Dunn brother went on to pitch at Boston College and after a fantastic junior season, he was the nineteenth overall selection by the New York Mets in the 2016 MLB Draft. He has since made 32 starts in the major leagues.
Ryan shared the same goal at one point, but around the time that Justin was drafted, he suffered an elbow injury that forced him to miss time. This is when his transition to the hardwood began.
He started practicing his dribbling throughout his rehab and by the time he was fully healthy, basketball was more at the forefront. Ryan did not start to take the sport seriously until he was 16 years old and just a couple of years after that, he was off to the University of Virginia on a full-ride scholarship.
Despite not being fully committed to basketball throughout his entire high school career, Dunn was still the No. 147 ranked player in the Class of 2022 according to 247 Sports out of Perkiomen School and the No. 4 player in the Empire State.
But it was not until he arrived in Charlottesville that he truly began to blossom.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

That’s pretty crazy. Kind of reminds me of Amare in n how late to the game he was before he started playing. These kids who pick up the game after 14 impress me when I’ve seen kids play their whole life and still suck.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 7:52 pmSneakers and swats: Ryan Dunn’s unorthodox path to UVA
