Suns News: Week 3 11/10-11/16
Re: Suns News: Week 3 11/10-11/16
Yea, and there was also mention that Hornacek may have limited him a bit to keep him from going hero-ball against his former team.
Re: Suns News: Week 3 11/10-11/16
The Suns just sent Warren and Ennis to the D-League.
Re: Suns News: Week 3 11/10-11/16
Good, at least they will get some playing time.

I hope they dominate.Shabazz wrote:The Suns just sent Warren and Ennis to the D-League.

This is good news. I hope Warren tears it up; if so, we might see him with Phoenix, taking Shav's/Tolliver's minutes.Shabazz wrote:The Suns just sent Warren and Ennis to the D-League.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

You think so? They have him by 20-30 pounds and Shav is 2" taller. I just don't see him as a stretch 4 at that size.LazarusLong wrote:This is good news. You may be right. But he did play inside some in college. He's active, he rebounds and he scores. Remember a lot of people thought Marion was too small to play 4. Now ... I'm not saying TJ is the next Matrix. But for five-10 minutes at a time, he could be valuable in an uptempo offense.Indy wrote:You think so? They have him by 20-30 pounds and Shav is 2" taller. Fair enough. And I am for any option that doesn't include Shav or Tolliver.LazarusLong wrote:You may be right. But he did play inside some in college. He's active, he rebounds and he scores. Honestly, I think it's a no brainer. Warren is better than Shav & Tolliver right now, a big part of our future, and he'd be sharing the court with Tucker or Marcus, both capable of moonlighting as a 4.Indy wrote:You think so? I agree with you, but it seems that the coaching staff still needs to see some things out of Warren first. I have a feeling that we may not see much of him all season.Shabazz wrote:Honestly, I think it's a no brainer. You think it's something in practice? He was good in college, Summer League and the preseason. Hard to see those "things" in regular season game action if he's not getting any.In2ition wrote:I agree with you, but it seems that the coaching staff still needs to see some things out of Warren first. It's just because there are 3 vets in front of him; Warren is ready to play now.

My feeling is he'll be a regular part of the rotation by mid-season.In2ition wrote:I agree with you, but it seems that the coaching staff still needs to see some things out of Warren first. I tend to agree. THe D League assignment is less about proving himself and more about knocking the dust off his game and fine-tuning after the layoff. He's a plug-and-play guy, sort of like Ced Ceballos, which is why he should be great coming off the bench.INFORMER wrote:It's just because there are 3 vets in front of him; Warren is ready to play now.

Goodwin is also a very talented player, but he isn't getting minutes yet. It takes time for rookies when you have a deep and talented squad.

Hi folks.
What do you guys think of the comments that they send guys to down to the d-league for short stints only rather than extended time. Kind of seems like a continuation of what we have done in the past. Unless they plan to do it more regularly than in the past. I imagine the d-league stints should be more beneficial now given we have more control over the playing style now.

Unlike Archie Goodwin's trips to Bakersfield last season, when five teams shared the affiliate, everything that Warren and Ennis have learned with the Suns since training camp now ties in to what they will do for the Jam. Bakersfield coach Nate Bjorkgren spent time with the Suns staff at summer league, training camp and part of the preseason.
"Nate's got great ideas too," Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said. "I told him anytime he comes up with something for one of the guys, if he wants to run something and says this plays runs really well with this guy, we'll take a look at it and may use it here."
Warren and Ennis are arrived on the eve of the Jam's opener but the transition is also smoothed by familiar faces. Suns preseason players Earl Barron, Joe Jackson, Casey Prather and Jamil Wilson are on the Bakersfield roster. The Jam also has Ricardo Barbosa, the nephew of Leandro Barbosa, and Elijah Millsap, the younger brother of Paul Millsap.
