See OE32's recent post on how to use the Morris twins salaries in a trade. It's basically the average of the contract over the remaining seasons. Off the top of my head it's 7 and 4.6 Million for a total of 11.6, not 6.2.

EVEN if the suns win today, this microball in the latter part of the 4th is getting too predictable and is not sustainable.

get a big man who can (shoot + defend bigs) OR (score inside + defend bigs), then you wont have to worry about PJ playing PF.

the lakers only wanted 1 first round pick for gasol, but i would have given them len if that's what it took to get it done. pau is projected to become an all nba teamer this season.

We probably could have made the playoffs if we had gotten him but there really wasn't much chance in him resigning with us. He was always going to join a championship caliber squad and we are a bit too young for that.

Then we wouldn't have had Len or Pau. That would have been a bad situation.

i dont have a problem with len as a throw in, but the lakers only wanted ONE first round pick from mcdo. and pau was open to moving to the suns before the trade deadline last season. after the trade deadline passed, he ruled out phoenix as a destination in the offseason (any stupid FO who wouldnt trade for him doesnt deserve consideration).

i recall pau played the next day after the trade deadline as if to show gambo, mcdo and others in the suns bubble that he's healthy, before going back to the injury list for "vertigo".

SDC: You always repeat that line about the Lakers wanting only one 1st-round pick for Gasol. But I think that has always been an unsubstantiated rumor. Can you provide a link that backs up that claim?

we would have heard about it from mcdo, gambo, paul coro if the lakers asked for TWO first round picks.

and it has been reported by gambo and other sources that the suns refused to even give up ONE first rounder for gasol.

I think Len is destined to become the best center this franchise has ever had in its 45 years of existence.

Unfortunately, that's not saying much. IINM the only All-Star centers the franchise has ever had are Alvan Adams and Amare, neither of whom was a true center.

ETA: I stand corrected. Shaq Made the All-Star team as a Sun and he was definitely a true center.

i did not have a problem throwing in len for gasol then. but if the same trade scenario happened again this year, i'd throw in plumlee instead of len.

Oh, I would have to disagree about Adams. He just wasn't a conventional center. Unlike Amare' he could defend opposing big men. He just did it with finesse - he wasn't going to out-muscle guys like Clifford Ray, Kareem, Dave Cowens, Bob Lanier or Artis Gilmore. Adams' biggest weakness as a player was that he played for John MacLeod, who limited everybody's minutes - including the minutes played by Adams, Westphal and Davis. I never quite understood that.

The only other center that I would throw in there for discussion would be Neal Walk, who was pretty good for a while (peaking at 20 pts & 12 reb), but he became a vegetarian, and lost it pretty quickly after the Suns traded him to the Jazz. Still, for 408 games with the Suns he averaged 15 & 9 in about 27 min.

Walk was one the franchises' better offensive centers.

Boris Diaw was fairly effective at center when he played there. Short sample, I know. But he was so unconventional it baffled some teams, such as the Yao-led Rockets.

Barring injuries, there is no reason why Len couldn't repeat his performance tonight against a very, very tough front line on a nightly basis (14 points/13 rebounds/2 blocks in 30 minutes). Indeed, I can see him doing even better against smaller front lines, so that he averages like 16/14/4.

If Markieff could only keep opposing PFs out of the paint, he and Len could make a good combination.
