It really is a shame that Mickey is only 5 ft tall.

All I want is improvement. I've not really seen it. I have no problem hanging on to him the duration of his rookie deal, but he needs to show me something this year. Increase in FG%, 3pt%, assists, something....

One issue with him is that he makes some lazy passes at the top of the key that get stolen. I'm not sure I like his game face. The broadcasters were chalking it up to intensity but I'm not so sure. He might be too cool out there.
I think that kind of thing is always overstated. Who cares what kind of faces someone makes when they play?

I also don't get how some (you know who you are) prefer 22 year old Alec Brown as a prospect to Goodwin.
I'm not sure how you got all that from these two posts. I disagree with you about engagement always being overstated. It definitely makes a difference in a player; sometimes big time. I agree that Archie is very good at getting to the line. It's one of his strongest points. Who said he should be a finished product? I assume the last statement was for INF.

Sorry. That that post comes across as more bitter than I had intended. I just think the board in general is a little too hard on Archie.

I think we all want the best for him but are a little disappointed he hasn't shown more progress. I was encouraged by his shot yesterday. I think he was 2 for 2 from deep. And you're right, getting to the line is a big time skill.

I thought that Goodwin played well overall, had a little bit of a chip on his shoulder, but he took himself out of position on defense a few times by lunging and doubling when he shouldn't have on the perimeter. This seemed to be him either being selfish to get steals or make hero defensive plays. It just put too much pressure on the rest of the team when it became 4 on 3 a few times and then the Rockets scored. I thought his offense was fine and I liked what I saw there.
I understand it's only two games into his new pro career, but I was disappointed in how flat and short Booker's outside shot seemed, especially from deep. I think he needs to learn the Eddie Johnson philosophy of scoring, where he gets some hustle and garbage baskets, some traditional three pointers, and some outside chances, making sure he knocks down the wide open shots.

You sure? Hehe. I'm not comfortable telling a guy what he can or can't do in the league after 2 Summer League games. Can he at least get a proper training camp?

I am not saying he can or can't do anything. I was just disappointed with how he played so far especially in the Rockets game. I expect him to get it fixed, as he has too good of a foundation on fundamentals to not work it out. If I'm shooting short nearly every time from deep, I adjust the strength in my legs to affect it. Perhaps he was a bit weak in the legs with all the effort he was giving on the defensive end, idk.

He's just 18 and a rookie. Strength and stamina are two things that will almost certainly improve.

I haven't given up on him, just being critical of his performance so far. That doesn't mean I didn't agree with the pick or have high hopes for him in the future.

Being critical of an 18yo kid against grown men in his 1st 2 (meaningless) games is a bit, well.. overly critical.
Yeah.

People put way to much stock into summer league sometimes. Actually....most of the time. I actually pay more attention to what guys who have been in the league for a few years look more then NBA rookies. Booker may be great or a bust, but you can't based either off ow hat he does in a short 3 game period when he's been a pro for less then a month. He's going to show you exactly what he showed you in college. If you watch college basketball you shouldn't be suprised at his game or what he looks like. you just saw it a few months ago.

I don't know about that. If he shot like that while in college, we wouldn't even be talking about him in the Summer league. He would still be at Kentucky. Yeah, he's young and only 18, but he's getting paid to play with and against grown men, so expect your game to be analyzed and critiqued even after one game.

People are overreacting to In2's comments. He's just disappointed in his play so far. He's not making any claims about the kid's future, the Suns selecting him, or even drawing any conclusions.

Every Booker three was short. He just needs to dial in the NBA 3 distance. He'll get there.

I like the guy. Very Nash like and he doesn't seem to be mistake prone.

He's a true point guard. That makes him unique among Suns players, and a safe bet not to make the regular season roster.
