I think you're going to be disappointed if you believe the Lakers pick will be average. The Lakers are going to suck again this year.

both for this year and the future. And it's not even close.
This is it in a nutshell for me. I don't hate Knight, but the Bucks didn't want to resign him for big money. We could have just signed him in the offseason if we wanted him so bad, and then we would have had the pick and more assets.

And that FREAKING PICK!!!!! It is going to be like the #5-6 pick in the draft, mark my words.

I'm starting to shift toward the consensus, because Brandon Knight has played so poorly so far. But I think it's more like:

Thomas, Ennis, LAL Pick, Plumlee & Cap Space

vs.

Knight, CLE Pick & Chandler

Things might have shaken out a lot differently had we not attempted to extort Toronto using Ennis. It's also worth considering that the LAL Pick had a 20% chance of falling to #6 in the draft, which could have been used to take Mudiay, Johnson, Kaminsky, Winslow or Turner. I could see us wanting to trade Knight for any of those guys straight up - if not this year, then next.

... We could have also had Carter-Williams, Ennis and Plumlee instead of Knight, fwiw. I'm not gonna lie, I expected good things out of Brandon, given our scouting team's accomplishments. It's early yet, but it's hard to be impressed with the dividends to date.

The way Knight has played so far, he isn't even worth the players we gave up, much less the players PLUS A TOP DRAFT PICK.

I don't think having Knight here (vs. Thomas or even at all) played a huge role in Chandler's decision to sign with us. Maybe it helped a little, but we approached him right away with a rich, long-term offer. I think that's what sealed the deal.

I don't think we could have picked up Knight as a FA. He would have been traded to another team that would have matched to keep him, Milwaukee would have matched or demanded something in a sign and trade. Teams hate giving up RFA's.

Its just an opinion, will never really know.

Jury is still out on Knight.

I don't believe we could have signed him to 14M per, given what was going on league wide. But at the same time, I think if we make a max offer, or close to it, Milwaukee doesn't match.

That scenario doesn't allow you to sign Chandler, though, even after dumping Marcus and co. Moving Kieff, or Tucker+ would have been a must. Also no Teletovic.

Well, even if all of that is true, I'd still just rather not have Knight and would rather have the cap space or rather have spent it on something else, while retaining the players and the TOP FIRST ROUND PICK that we lost to acquire him.

Yes, I'm going to always refer to that pick in all caps because giving it away was truly that stupid.
