I don't think the Manimal helps Toronto. He's a real odd case of playing way above his abilities thanks to an unstoppable motor, but for whatever reason that motor on court hasn't helped him round out his game. I am a big Thad Young fan, I'd take him back if we could dump Kieff on the Nets. I'd throw in Bogdan or Archie into that trade too, to give the Nets some hope, maybe that'll be enough to make this happen.

I have no interest in using Bogdanovic to trade for Thad, or a player of similar circumstances. That's basically saying you are willing to send out a 1stR in such a move, which is not the direction this team should be pursuing.

I get that, and I'd much rather send out Archie, who is, himself, a first rounder. I don't think we have the capacity to develop this much youth though. I'd be much more willing to hang on to guys like Bogdan if we were to unclog the non-passing pg pairing. Right now we have a number of good pieces and nothing great; almost the only position without a serious mid to long term prospect is at the 4.

I subscribe to the theory that once you have a player and have seen him play it doesn't matter where you drafted him. For instance, the team might see Goodwin as a first-rounder because that's where he was picked, but no other team is going to evaluate him that way.
It's like selling a car and saying "Yeah, I know it leaks oil and needs breaks, but I paid $25,000 fir it new five years ago." Nobody really gives a crap what you spent for it when you're trying to sell it, they're only interest in what it's worth to them.

Jimmy Butler scored 53 last night.

The 53 is amazing. But he played 49 minutes. What is it about Bulls coaches running their best players into the ground? Haven't they learned anything? The lesson is literally right there in front of them, hobbling around as a shell of his former self.

Are you saying Archie needs his oil checked?

The guards under contract are a problem, but if there are minutes for Price, there is room for Bogdanovic (who for what is worth has played the distributor role before). Regardless, just keep the young, cheap talent if you are not getting a difference maker. And the FO probably doesn't share this opinion, but Knight should be shopped around (and is better suited to play 6th man anyway). Bledsoe's injury complicates things incredibly, but if the draft delivered Dunn I wouldn't complain at all.

I keep hearing that the Heat are going to cut ties with Whiteside because they don't want to max him out and also because he's got a bit of an attitude / work ethic problem. Crazy that they would let a stud big man like that go. He's just about the best thing they have going for them.

Well they literally can't give him a max contract, whether they wanted to or not.

It's really hard not to get suckered in by his play over the past two years. He's been a monster.

I guess I meant that it doesn't seem that they are trying to clear cap room to facilitate paying/keeping him. They seem resigned to the fact that he'll have to leave the team. Seems like he's likely to be traded by this season's trade deadline.

Brian Windhorst had reported earlier this season that he isn't the kind of player that fits in with the team.
