Nearly every pick has bust potential, and it would be very surprising for a kid to go from one year at Duke to being a consensus lottery pick and end up not making it to his second contract which is what I'm implying from "not an NBA player".
I don't care about contracts. Stupid contracts are handed out in bunches every offseason. Mike James has had two NBA contracts.

I just mean I don't know if he is going to be good. I don't watch him and see an impact player that is going to have a long career. I could be wrong.
This is much clearer than "not sure he's an NBA player".

I think there’s a chance he busts (Saer Sene 2.0?)
Good reference.
A guy who played 12mpg in Belgium before being drafted is a good reference?
I think he means it more in the Jonah Hill "Sick Reference, Bro. Your references are out of control and everyone knows that" kind of way.

Seems like the Pick is being universally liked by the media. Giovanny has us as 1 of his winners in rd 1. Should I feel good? No idea. But feel like this is the first time since Amare a pick of ours has been so universally liked.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

As crazy as the Hansen Yang pick was (Henry Abbott speculated it was to entice buyers), I think the most insane move of the night was New Orleans giving up their unprotected ‘26 pick to move up 10 spots. They’re not going to be good this year! That could be AJ Dybantsa!

Fuckin smoke show
You guys do remember Ron Harper right?

NBA players aren't out looking for 3's and 4's.
Good to see Ron Harper still scoring high numbers after all these years.

And compound it by drafting a small offensive focused guard to play next to Jordan Poole.

Agreed…. Pretty nice breakdown. Looks like the kid has decent hands and not afraid of contact.

It’s NBA draft night! Suns have the following picks: 10,29,52,59

Time to lock in!

Who do you want? Who do you think we pick??
Any chance all four are on the roster to start the season? Will we see the Suns maneuver any picks? Does Gregory even have that in him? Will Jones be involved? I have lots of questions and no answers.
Bone, when I have found myself in a similar situation in life, I am reminded that when we have questions...Radio Shack has answers. And thus, I'll usually watch the following jingle, on a loop, until my soul is calmed and all questions have been answered:

Life changing, dude! Running off to my local Radio Shack right now!... I had no idea they had a theme song, let alone a banger like that!
Who’s going to tell him? :?

The grades mean nothing for me because it's the mock draft experts grading themselves. They all had Maluach as the best center prospect and a top 10 pick and we got him at 10 so it's a great "value pick" in their eyes. Whether he can actually play pro basketball is moot for them right now.

Without being too negative, I'm apprehensive. Is he a basketball player or a guy that plays basketball. I don't love 18 yr olds who "just started playing a few years ago and are just scratching the surface". That's a red flag for me, especially with bigs. I feel like every time I've read/heard that, it almost never ends well. There are exceptions obviously so maybe Maluach is one of them.

No I don't think he'll be playing PF in some jumbo lineup next to Williams just because he's made a few 3s in his career. No, I don't think Ott is some wiz kid who's going to unlock a double big lineup like they had in Cleveland.

I think it's professional malpractice that they didn't have lotto picks in for workouts in the weeks leading up. They crammed a few in right after the KD trade but I said it a week or so ago - if they were intent on moving KD before the draft and were talking to the Spurs and Rockets for their picks, they should've gotten prospects in there. Probably wouldn't have changed the pick but that's still not a good look for the FO.

Is he Clint Capela or Desagna Diop? Is he DeAndre Jordan or Mo Bamba? Did we just add 2 drop bigs who won't be useful if/when we make the playoffs? Was he a great rebounder and finisher at the rim in college because he was just bigger/taller than most everyone else in college? You can't teach size but the conditioning concerns are real and the lack of actual skill and versatility don't give me a ton of hope - especially when teams are moving away from specific defensive specialists like this.

And this doesn't even go into the Mark Williams trade and how that could affect things.

But this is the exact kind of international prospect he gushes over. He is all about watching a in a gym and gushing over the workouts and moving them up draft boards because of it.

I like Givony. I appreciate how hard he works, and how much he travels and remains connected to the global scene. But he has a tendency to overrate international prospects.

Watching his trainers talk about him dribbling and shooting threes in an empty gym doesn't move the needle for me.

Did y'all hear Widhorst when Fears was drafted? He said, "That's the face of someone who has to share the backcourt with Jordan Poole."

I was frankly upset to find out that round 2 didn't happen last night. That's some bullshit.

I agree with a lot of the more cautious takes on Khaman. He wasn't on my list because the positive takes on him are all about his body and not his bball skill. But he seems like a great kid, so I'll have no trouble rooting for him. Here's hoping he has Amare's drive to improve.

If we had had the 29'th pick, I would have gone with Kam Jones. It was a bummer to give up 2 picks for Williams, but I understand the move.

Awesome find! Haven't been this excited about a draft pick in ages. Far more aggressive on the lob and at the rim than Ayton was. Could be a real gem.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Here’s my pretty uninformed opinion on the pick…Everyone is bringing up the concerns with Maluach, which is completely fair, there’s just concerns about anyone we could have picked at 10. I don’t know if Maluach will be good, none of us do, but I am glad we didn’t pick some of the other guys we could have…namely CMB or Derek Queen.
