I'm laughing at Ulis becasuse we love those Kentucky guys. But, to be honest, we really needed brains in this draft, and I think he does have brains. That's his rep, anyway.

Reminds of the Cardinals drafting the biggest risk / reward Robert Nkemdiche in the first round of the NFL Draft this year. Sometimes you have to go for the most athletic talent and potential and Chriss looks like he could have that in spades.
Actually it's nothing like the Cards drafting Nkemdiche. Nkemdiche has been a physical specimen and future NFL player since being a young teenager. The reason he was a draft risk is related to off the field issues, and nothing to do with his ability to play.

Chriss started playing basketball four years ago, and he showed flashes of being pretty good, but his most consistent skill was picking up fouls. Chriss is a pretty big gamble for the late lottery, and I think almost everyone around here would've preferred Sabonis.

If he's 6'2 180 he'd have been top 5. He's mini Chris Paul.

Ullis is 5'10 149lbs. You wonder how that will hold up, but I really like this kid. Hope it works out, he will probably immediately become a fan and .net favorite because he is already the smartest pg on our roster.

McD and Watson talk about the players we got, and a little detail about how the deal with Sacto went down.

What an amazing night. I wanted Sarver to go young and play the long game, and we did precisely that. We gambled and pulled off something like a fantasy scenario, the kind of thing you see in unrealistic trade ideas, not actual deals. Also, I feel like there was a deliberate effort not to break anything up, to try to build some continuity with the roster. Wasn't what I imagined, but I like it. We have our core now, and we didn't give up our chance of competing this season to do it. Nice!

We still need a starting PF. I do wonder which of Chriss or Bender is more likely to first crack the starting line-up. Hope we bring in a guy on a deal that declines year-over-year.

In the press conference, they almost failed to mention PJ, and completely forgot that Archie exists. They mentioned almost every other player on the roster, as well as guys who no longer are. The only guys they failed to mention were Archie and Ronnie Price.

One thing I like about the Ulis pick is what he can bring to practices, even if he never plays. We just drafted the smartest player in the draft. Hopefully that helps the team learn to play the right way. I hope we try to sign him to a "Sixer special" - 4 year deal with the last two years being team options.

Craziest draft I can remember. Two lottery picks that most mocks didn't even have as first rounders, and the rest of the draft all out of order. Just nuts.

Orlando with one of the worst draft nights in memory. 1 year of a declining Ibaka, who fits the talent but not the age and trajectory of the roster. Gave up Oladipo, under team control for 5 more years with RFA rights, as well as 8 years of Sabonis. Just unfathomably stupid.

What is Sacramento doing?? They just added three rookies - three RAW rookies - to a Cousins-and-nothing roster. Just drafted two centers in consecutive lotteries, both reaches, and the latter, a HUGE reach, as far as we know-nothing fans can tell. Their star player is also a center. They have to trade Cousins now, right?

The Bulls were apparently in talks to trade Jimmy. Crazy. If you're rebuilding, you can't find a better asset than Robin Lopez's contract for Rose? Guess not! In other news, Rubio is officially on the block.

We're not the only team that took the same guy twice - ATL drafted two DeMarre Carrolls!

I would say Boston swung and missed (though I like Yabusele), but it's not clear they ever took a swing.

Hey, Noel and Okafor are both still Sixers! With Embiid cleared to scrimmage, that's a team to keep an eye on. Great picks at 24 and 26 with Luwawu and Korkmaz, respectively. Very nice opening act, BC. Lakers had a good night as well.

Thad Young for LeVert? Weird. #20 and Hill for Teague and Young? Awesome.

I can't decide who had the best night between us (still f'in stoked!!), Philly, OKC and... SAN ANTONIO. Damn it. Drafted a lotto talent at 29. They're consistent. I hate the Spurs.

A+

Good night!!!

Did we really draft Ulis? I think my last post before I logged off the Slack app tonight was I expect Ulis or Felder at 34.

I was kind of disappointed it wasn't Knight going away in the #8 deal.
Tought exactly the same. I hate that we gave up Bogs and still have Knight.

Knight is superfluous. Bogs is one of the best talents in Europe. Winner, clutch, outstanding IQ, leader on the floor. You never know how he will translate but you know Knight is not more than a microwave. Bah.

76rs are winners today. Simmons-Luwawu-Korkmaz. All they need now is a real PG and they have lots of ammo to trade for one.

Well, the draft has delivered two PFs with high upside but also probably the highest bust potential as well. I feel like the trade was an overpay and that they indeed were madly in love with Chriss, because just standing pat you could have had Valentine AND Skal. I would have never done it, to draft Chriss at least, but we'll have to see how things unfold. Huge test to our development ability, which is a problem with the guards still at the helm. Ullis is universally applauded as a floor general but there needs to be a trade involving at least one of the PGs for him to make an impact. Hate how almost everything comes down to the trade of one or both guards.
