There are game-winners, and then there's
this thing that Doncic just did. I don't even know how to describe it.

That was crazy. Just watched it. Grayson Allan missed BOTH free throws to set it up.

Luka will have a lot of game winners in his career. Not much you can do defensively to stop him from getting to his shot. He’s big and can hit that step back with the best of them. This wasn’t that, but he’s already hit a few and I expect quite a few more.

Hitting 16 of 31 shots is not a bad thing. It's not like he went 10 for 31... I don't get the dismissal of what Dort accomplished. I'm also a little upset that this guy was literally playing in our backyard and went undrafted and we weren't the team to have given him a chance.
I don't know. I'm just not impressed by it these days, but maybe my familiarity with Dort has something to do with it.
Think about it this way. How many Suns players wouldn't score 40 points if they took 30 shots in a game? I honestly don't think it's that difficult for a large portion of the league.

There are some quirks about the way it's set up that are eventually going to produce some odd results, though.
For instance, the 7th and 8th place teams play one "play-in" game; the winner of that game is automatically determined to be the 7th seed when the playoffs begin. While it probably won't happen this year, eventually we'll have a situation where there'll be a 7 seed that's like 51-31 and an 8 seed at like 42-40, and because of the weirdness that can ensue in any one given game, the much better regular-season team will end up as the lower seed beginning the playoffs.
I don't hate the concept, but they may need to tweak it to prevent some of the more obvious absurdities.
it is just the NBA's version of the wild card. Not sure there is a better way to do it.
I think they could draw on some of what they used in the bubble last year, as far as the games taking place only if the teams are within a certain number of games of each other. That way you don't have the situation I described, where a team essentially loses a nine-game lead for playoff positioning over the result of one game; make it so the play-in happens if the teams are within three, or maybe four games of each other.
That makes it harder for revenue planning. You are basically telling the NBA they will lose money if they don't make sure teams are close at the end of the season, and that leads to bad things.

Oh wow. Similar to Chris Bosh a few years back, right? Or was Bosh's a blood clot? Channing Frye had similar problems, too, didn't he?
I heard LMA had been actually playing pretty well for Brooklyn in his short stint there. I hope he'll be okay.
I wonder what makes these players have irregular heartbeats? Is it a genetic condition? Something they're doing health-wise? Medicines or supplements they are taking? Or just the demands of playing pro basketball?

Aldridge is pretty lucky that this didn't happen until the end of his career.

Depending on the cause and severity, irregular rhythm can be very easy to treat (and many times don't need anything at all). I hope that is the case for him.

He just has to count his blessings that he avoided a Reggie Lewis/Hank Gathers situation, and go home and enjoy his family and the millions he's made.
Hanging around to win a championship is way down the list when you could be sacrificing seeing your kids grow up.

I assume it's fairly common, and us normies just don't get our hearts tested as much as the pros do.

Yeah I think everyone has an irregular heartbeat from time to time. The question is how frequently and how irregular.

D Wade just bought an ownership stake in the Jazz..Wonder if he can repair some of the anti-Jazz sentiment that exists in nba circles.

doubt it. it takes a really long time to do that, and a lot of it has to do with the vocal fans in the arena. SLC is growing like crazy, and thereby getting a bit more diverse. But just a bit.

I didn’t see it, looking for video. Sounds like an ankle hopefully...at least would be better than a knee. Injuries suck
