Do we actually have a support system in place to help a raw big man to succeed tho? I’ve not heard any mention that Ishbia made strong investments into player development other than paying for a new practice facility?

Ott was brought in partly because of his player development background.

That’s great to know. Has he had a history of success with bigs? Was he known to have helped with Mobley’s game?

Also, I wonder if we have a good shooting coach. I’m a little worried about Malauch’s right elbow on his shot, wonder if that’s something we can or should correct before he starts getting serious reps with it.

He's been credited with helping Mobley and Allen, how much of that is actually fact? No idea. I guess we'll get to learn the hard way of it's all just blowing smoke up our butts or not.

Thanks TOO. I choose happiness. Ott is the perfect coach for Malauch!!!
I don’t appreciate the insinuation (“you just tried to find something negative because the Suns drafted him”).
The actual thinking was along the lines of any big man we bring in is a slight to Ayton. Which is quite understandable, you'd have to admit due to your history of defensive commentary.
I had nothing but good things to say about the trade for Richards.
OK, Jeremy. Sorry if I misinterpreted you. If you really wanted to avoid Maluach like some wanted to avoid CMB, that's your prerogative. But as a Suns fan, I hope you will be rooting for him to succeed.
I have no doubt he’ll succeed as an NBA player, at least as a defensive specialist. I just don’t think he’ll be able to play starter-level minutes, and therefore would not have picked him at #10.

If he wins coach of the year I'll change my name to OTT.

It's what Ott's specialty is. Putting players in a position to succeed.
ETA: What TOO said.

I've seen some guys have Fleming as high as 12, it's very encouraging to get him at 31.

I think Fleming is the new player I'm most excited about for us overall. Sounds like he has tremendous upside. Surprised he fell to #31.

I too am very happy with Fleming at 31, even though I really wanted to come out of this draft with some passing skill.
Flemings only flaws, AFAICT:
Not an on-ball creator
Played at a mid-major
"Old" at almost 21
I don't see how that's enough for him to have fallen past 20 in this draft. Welcome to Phoenix, young fella. Now he has to live up to that potential, and we get the fun of watching that journey.

I’ve seen some scouting reports that he has lower bball IQ. Hard to tell from highlight packages obviously.
