Around the League: Playoffs
Re: Around the League: Playoffs
You guys, I hacked McD's computer and he had this in a .txt file:
trade knight for cap space
draft Dunn and Jamal Murray
bring back Price
sign Conley and Rondo to max contracts
don't play the rookies so they can "develop"
best back court in the NBA
perfect 21 minutes per game rotation
well rested when the playoffs come
this time the pg's won't mind the low minutes.
what was with those other jerks who wanted to play?
Warren is PF of the future
hype Booker at SF
make Len a spot-up 3pt shooter
if we don't make the playoffs, hold self accountable by firing a bunch of coaches

Kings can't get anyone to work out for them. Supposedly agents are controlling the process more than ever before and GMs are frustrated. The one thing I will give Jaylen Brown credit for is that he will work out against anyone at any time. Surprised the Kings haven't had him in.

The combine and draft workouts are becoming a joke. I'll bet within 5 years, there will be only measurements and interviews with an occasional workout. Truth be told, if you're doing your homework and watching these guys in-season, you don't need an individual workout. Seeing them in games, seeing them reacting to teammates and coaches, crunch time situations, should be enough.
Re: Around the League: Playoffs
Almost sounds like they are planning on trading their pick this year or they are comfortable with their draft board and don't feel like they need to workout or bring anyone in.carey wrote:https://twitter.com/Aykis16/status/742741867633119233 Kings can't get anyone to work out for them. Re: Around the League: Playoffs
I'm not quite sure I agree. We've seen how some of the top college coaches tend to overcoach and put players into positions that serve the team more than the player. We're not always able to see what a player can do just by watching their college games. Surely GMs and scouts have more access than we do, but I do think workouts are a necessary part of the process.ShelC wrote:The combine and draft workouts are becoming a joke. Knight for #8. Take Belinelli and/or Koufos if they want/need cap relief.

For example, I wonder if we would have selected Booker without them.carey wrote:I'm not quite sure I agree. Simmons isn't planning on working out for the Sixers.ShelC wrote:The combine and draft workouts are becoming a joke. I'll bet within 5 years, there will be only measurements and interviews with an occasional workout.

Colangelo said the Sixers, who won just 10 games last season, is trying to set up a workout, but Simmons’ reps don’t appear eager.
“His agent has decided that is the process they are undertaking,” Colangelo said. “Why don’t you call (Simmons’ agent) Rich Paul and ask him. It has nothing to do with us, and nothing to do with Philadelphia. Everybody goes about it a little differently. Sometimes players decide to work out, sometimes they decide not to work out.”

Part of my seemingly annual roster reboot dream scenario is:
Sacramento receives: Thaddeus Young, Bojan Bogdanovic
Brooklyn receives: #28, Eric Bledsoe, Kosta Koufos, Ben McLemore
Phoenix receives: Marco Bellinelli, Jarrett Jack, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, #8
(I would waive Jack and Bellinelli)
Re: Around the League: Playoffs
Your dream consists of... RHJ and #8? How dull your nights must be.

Re: Around the League: Playoffs
Interesting. I'd be ok with this. RHJ is exactly the kind of role player we'd need around Booker and Warren. SAC probably would need something more. Maybe you can flip Belinelli for another contract more of their liking, plus say Archie. I was about to say the same about BRY as well, if only because they can't trust Bledsoe's health, but the rest of the package should properly make up for the risk.INFORMER wrote:Part of my seemingly annual roster reboot dream scenario is:

Utah should be willing to trade for one of our guards as well. In my dreams this gets us Lyles. If they finally embrace winning now, maybe they value Tyson as a mean to make sure Favors doesn't need to play C, plus a Knight-Exum combo while Hayward handles at SF. Problem would be the combined money of Chandler and the PG.

The key part is that INFO gets rid of Bledsoe.INFORMER wrote:Just part of it.Cap wrote:Your dream consists of... RHJ and #8?
I know you were once a fan of trading Bledsoe for Brandon Knight. However Knight is a far worse choice for us to keep than Bledsoe, IMO.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.

I can agree with that.INFORMER wrote:I want them both gone.

Re: Around the League: Playoffs
Me too. Still not happy with the way the Dragic situation was handled. Kind of wish we had never done the Dudley/Bledsoe deal although it seemed to be a coup at the time. Then the Knight deal was just plain silly. The whole thing ended up costing us $140 mil and neither of them can seem to play a whole season.JustWinBaby wrote:I can agree with that.INFORMER wrote:I want them both gone.
