Ws up 36-21 over Spurs so far. Spurs do seem to be actually trying. Hmm.

Saying we haven't hired anyone with experience vs saying we were outbid for someone is completely different.

Besides...Jay Wright doesn't have NBA experience, so how is that applicable to the conversation? If we hired him you could say the same thing. I'm not sticking up for Sarver either. He reminds me alot of The Dolphins owner (my fav football team) Stephen Ross, except I like Ross better because he leaves more to the Football guys. He just hires the wrong football guys.
Agreed they are different. But not ever trying to get the experienced FO guy tells me something.

I realize Wright is not an experienced NBA coach. There really are not many of them out there. But he does have plenty of experience coaching in a very competitive league. He has been working his way up the ranks for 30 years.
He has no NBA experience at all. How many decent NBA coaches had no NBA experience at all first? Really, I don't know.

The Spurs have Kevin Martin? I think that will prove to be a savvy signing.

Both of those were a long time ago. Recent?

What about Blatt? Would you be interested in him? I don't think his firing had much to do with his coaching skills.

Blatt hasn't shown anything.

This is the most interested I've been in a coaching search in a long time, just because I think a good coach could do wonders for this team next season. I don't remember the last time so much was riding on a coaching hire - which is why I don't think Watson will be coming back. Like him a lot, great guy, great leadership, but probably not what we need at this juncture.

LOL, look at this. The New Jersey Nets almost changed their name to the "Swamp Dragons" in the 1990s. They drew up logos and everything.

I remember that! Must've been around '96-'98 they were talking about making that switch.

Thoughts? I think Jerry C. definitely could have leaked it. He's very OG and I wouldn't put it passed him.

The fact that he regularly wrote manifestos like this tells me many could have leaked it.

Pretty strange story, but to many it just looks like Jerry wanted to hire Bryan (who wasn't really a hot property after his stint in Toronto).

As for the Swamp Dragons - I thought it was awful at the time and even worse now.

The only person who has claimed it was JC that leaked the letter was the guy who wrote a 13 page manifesto. I think it is much more likely that Hinkie leaked the letter himself.

Like others have said the other owners got tired of the 76'ers making a mockery of the league. It isn't good for business.

When your draft pick puts off surgery so they can go on vacation and relax all summer, there is problems with your players taking anything seriously.
