I don't see them as a good trading partner for Dragic. What would we get back? Mathews? Why bother then. Rolo? Not happening, they are delighted with him, and with good reason. Batum? Too risky cap wise, and too big of a move during a productive season. Scraps like T-Rob? No thanks. Picks? Already have our share.
Anyway, just don't trade Dragic. Find a way to make things work with what we have or move one of the other two guards (IT3 before Bledsoe in my opinion).
I just don't think it's a good idea to keep promising young players on the bench the whole season. I would like to see a trade. Both Green and Tucker have impressed and should have value. Plumlee is valuable and movable. We have a lot of valuable assets. Maybe things become more fluid as the season progresses and teams decide to change direction.
I don't feel bad for IT. He knew this coming here! I am 100% sure the suns planned on re-signing Bled all along. Its not like we gave IT a ton of money either, he is here on a bargin for his production. He had to know he wasn't going to get 30mins per as long as Bled and Dragic were here...
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Not real sure Suns need to make a Western Conference rival stronger, especially if Phoenix is trying to move up in the pecking order. Rather trade with some of the needy teams in the East.

My thoughts too although I'm 100% against trading Dragic.

Uh, that would be a *hell no* here - we don't need a stud at backup 1 and Rondo, from what i've read over the years, is far FAR away from any kind of chemist you can imagine.
We needed a competent 1 who could give us a little more than Ish smith did, not take away from what worked - which, unfortunately, is what Thomas is doing. I like Thomas and his game, but his addition has resulted in more disruption than anything - no flow whatsoever.

They started the game together, where they had a good dynamic taking turns running the offense based on matchups, opportunity etc. Approx. halfway through the 1st one of them would go to the bench and the other one would get a chance to run the offense like a true PG with Green on the wing. They would swap again early in the 2nd quarter and the other PG would have a chance to run the offense. Then they would finish the half together. Basically, a healthy combination of playing together and staggered minutes.
With IT in the mix, both Dragic and Bledsoe are losing those “show running” minutes, because they need to defer to IT when it’s his turn. It’s also not as effective to play IT/Dragic or IT/Bledsoe because of IT’s defense. None of this is IT’s fault and his contract is still a good value, I just question if this will ever fit. There’s also the whole issue of the pecking order – as in this team doesn’t have one.
I don’t know that we’d be any worse off if we had kept the Dragic-Bledsoe combo and used Ennis as an insurance PG.
Shit, I missed this one until after my previous post - agreed 100%, especially on getting Ennis run.

Right now we seem stuck between seeking continuity (with some tweaking) to find what works versus shaking things up. Len or Tucker into the starting line up is an option.
But I still feel its a Band-Aid, since the greater issue stems from lack of depth at the 4-5 and figuring out the whole 3 pg thing. But for now, I'm cool with Len getting a few starts
Danimal wrote:So who thinks we can figure things out (be a potential playoff team) with the roster as is?
Not it!
I had us down for .500 at the end of the year if no roster move is made and I don't see anything changing. Our rotation is a mess, body language in our star players is a mess, our C spot is in a bit of a situation with the backup outplaying the starter & coach not doing anything about that, we have a non-existent home court advantage, and the refs? Well they don't give a flying fugazi about us.
So, unless something changes I think this is about what you'll see from us all year. A lot of up & downs.
I think we can be a playoff team with this roster despite early struggles. We lack concentrated talent at a few positions but we do have a ton of overall talent and depth at almost every position. Plus OKC is not a lock to make it into the playoffs this year with their injuries.
I'm largely agreed with you Carey. I am worried putting coach is putting too much emphasis on chemistry, but in the wrong way. Like benching Plumlee or Marcus must tread on someones toes and chemistry is meant to be one of main strengths right. Perhaps I just made that up in my head. But boys have to grow up one day and learning to take their lumps is better for the team in the long run.

There is a non-basketball reason that Boston has been shopping him for years. Even when they were a top team in the league. That scares me. And what everyone else said about it not making us any better.
