You can trade players you just acquired by themselves at any time. If you want to package them, you have to wait 60 days. Tomorrow is the last day teams can trade players and flip them as a package prior to the trade deadline.

Where else could have been sent for more? Houston, I guess, but Rondo wasn't needed on that roster. He is not the defender he used to and can't make even FTs. The Rockets are at the apex of the efficiency for their system and if I were them I wouldn't have gambled disrupting that for 2014 Rondo.

Any other contender/playoff team already has a PG arguably on par or better than post injury Rondo, and the likes of Sacramento, Milwaukee, Indiana, etc probably couldn't aspire to getting any commitment from the player. I have to admit that passing the ball to the youngsters in Milwaukee would have been a nice sight.

That said, Rondo is a nice fit in Dallas. Defense, and distribution for those shooters.

Huh. I listen to the Eye on Basketball podcast a lot, and the guy there Zack Harper *HATES* Brewer. So I don't know if that's a good pickup for Houston or not. Get the sense that he's got talent but is inconsistent?
