I really don't get that feeling anymore.
It still feels that way to me. Phoenix used to be at least a 'secondary' destination for players now we are essentially off the map. Sarver does [still ] have a bad reputation even to people who barely follow the NBA, when I mention the Suns they know know Sarver , somehow. Which is weird but if they do I'm sure players do as well.

Interesting. And I wasn't disagreeing with Phoenix not being a primary destination, more so about Sarver.

Labels are hard to erase, I'm sure a lot of casual fans still thinks on Sarver, as the guy with the foam finger. Now, people who actually make a living out of it, like agents, have to take a better pulse in the direction of a franchise, either to leave on time, or to get on board early.
Players are in very wide spectrum on how deep atention they put into this, I'm sure many still resent Sarver, but many as well must consider us an above average destination. Now, if we are talking about one specific player, with a background as clear as Kevin Love's, well, is really secundary his opinión on Sarver. But still it's worth to pitch him the team, we are a West Coast team after all.

Who are we rooting for in this New Orleans OKC home and home series? I think New Orleans for both games, right? Or maybe a split?

I honestly don't know if it matters. Sure it would be fun to make the playoffs, but I am also worried it would send a message to the FO that this process is working and we just need small tweaks to keep moving up. So we let Dragic walk and sign a mediocre two guard and say, see, we are better!

Indy, what are you expecting from the FO?
This team is stuck in the classic mediocrity trap. We're good, but we don't have a championship core or players who are likely to grow into one, we don't have really high draft picks or the cap room or situation to attract top free agents.
So, if you don't believe in tanking to escape the mediocrity trap, you do basically what this FO is doing. You accumulate assets, you hope for opportunities to add that special player by draft, trade, or free agency, and in the meantime you put out a team that is committed to winning and gives the fans something to root for.
The team is doing fine, as long as you have realistic expectations. I think we need more of Nodack's Hakuna Matata attitude. Be patient with this team, because it's probably going to be a long while before they're championship contenders, and impatience isn't going to change that.

I think that's a good take. I'm not going to worry about OKC/NO. Let the chips fall where they may.

I don't think this is the finished product for the team.

This team will never be contenders. Being patient is just exacerbating that.
I would want to see the FO do something to cash in all these assets they say that are collecting. I don't want another Jason Kidd era.

How do we know that's not the plan?

It may well be. And if they do something to help fix our direction towards mediocrity then I will applaud it. I don't think I said it wasn't the plan. I just want us to execute to that plan.

We need a shake up like we did during the late 80s, not like the early 90s. We aren't a round away from advancing to the finals and just need that piece to put us over the top (like we tried to do with Barkley). We are much further away than that.

I don't know. If we got a non-party Barkley right now, I think we'd be in pretty good shape.

I think the FO knows this team is not contenders as presently constructed and have said all along the plan is to try and trade for a star should one become available.

Hassan Whiteside watch: 12-13 FG, 24 points, 20 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks tonight. Ridiculous.

could have told mcdo that with his boneheaded (non)moves from trade deadline to his moves in the offseason.

I don't think trading Goran and a few others for a great PF is going to make us contenders.
