We're talking about the world running out of food and water because Russia invaded Ukraine.

Funny anecdote, I haven't seen tortilla chips at my local supermarket in a month. I bought potato chips instead.

But if I frequented certain odorous corners of the Internet, I'd have bought every bag of chips on the aisle. Because what else am I supposed to do when I'm terrified of the world running out of chips?

Where were your chips made when you could get them? Just curious what the source of corn would be.

I just wasn't sure if you got some cool brand of tortilla chips over there. I am always looking to try new ones.

And this is way off topic, but I found these potato chips from spain that are "fried egg" flavored. It sounds awful, but they are some of the best chips I have ever had. I didn't know what a spanish fried egg was until I tried those chips and it got me to go look it up. Now that is also one of my favorite ways to make an egg.

Ukraine's defence ministry says another Russian general, Lt Gen Yakov Rezantsev, was killed in a strike near the southern city of Kherson.
Rezantsev was the commander of Russia's 49th combined army.
A western official said he was the seventh general to die in Ukraine, and the second lieutenant general - the highest rank officer reportedly killed.
It is thought that low morale among Russian troops has forced senior officers closer to the front line.

The UK government confirmed that the National Cyber Security Centre is investigating the allegations, which claim that more than 600 websites, including Ukraine’s defence ministry, were subjected to thousands of hacking attempts coordinated by the Chinese government.

The claims are based on intelligence memos obtained by the Times. Ukraine’s security service, the SBU, alleges that China appears to have had advance notice of the invasion because the hacking attempts started before the end of the Winter Olympics in Beijing and peaked on 23 February, the day before Russia invaded its neighbour.

Xi and Vladimir Putin met in Beijing at the start of the Winter Olympics in February and issued a joint statement saying the bonds between the two countries had “no limits”. Xi and Putin also made clear in the statement that they opposed any further expansion of Nato. Soon afterwards, according to the SBU, there was an increase in CNE attacks on Ukrainian targets.

It looks like Ukraine may have gone on the offensive, attacking an oil depot in western Russia? That's what Russia claims, anyway. Ukraine hasn't admitted doing it but also doesn't deny it, so that probably means they did it?

Kind of weird of them to do that. I think there's a big difference between defending the sovereignty of their own country and land vs actively going into Russia and bombing targets. I hope they realize that such behavior could escalate the war. Not a big fan of this one.

I think this is a good illustration of how Russian propaganda, and propaganda in general, works. They put out 10 different narratives that don't even make sense together. Some parts are true, many parts are false, and in total it's a jumbled mess. The goal isn't to tell a coherent story, it's to confuse people and make them cynical and doubtful of the truth, mistrusting of all sources of information. To exhaust their BS detectors, to make them stop caring what the truth even is any more.

I am a big fan of them doing this. Escalate the war? War doesn’t mean one side gets to attack and the other is supposed to sit back and just take it and not fight back. Russia invaded their country and is is leveling their cities. They have every right to retaliate and bring the hurt to Russia imo. Russia is all in on offense. Who’s back home protecting the motherland? Now Russia has to think about defense and not just offense. Striking Russia’s oil storage tanks near the border probably hurts their capacity to refuel their war machine somewhat. Just one more thing Putin has to worry about.

In light of the atrocities that are being found as Kyiv is being reclaimed, worth remembering that the leader of one of our two political parties openly supports this guy.

All of this. It isn't an escalation to punch someone back after they are trying to slit your throat. If you can take out a supply station, you do it. It isn't like they decided to start bombing hospitals and apartment buildings.

Interesting. Finland borders Russia to the west, so admitting them to NATO would bring NATO right up to the Russian border. Putin probably doesn't like that.
