2025 NBA Offseason News
Re: 2025 NBA Offseason News
I think I’d only push back on Jalen being more desirable for a lot of teams. I don’t really see many teams trying to win who’d prefer Jalen.
I guess I can see a team choosing Jalen and his future if they have no expectations to win in the next couple years, but I’d expect 20+ teams would take Mikal right now.
But we don’t have to agree. I hope you guys are right about Green because I’d gladly take any year of Mikal over any year of Green at this point.

Re: 2025 NBA Offseason News
20+ teams “trying to win” is really about 14 teams lying to themselves.
I think the only way Mikal works for those real contenders now is if they worked themselves into a favorable situation with highly productive players on undervalued contracts (rookie contracts). I wouldn’t be much more optimistic about the Suns if they somehow swapped Mikal and Jalen but somehow made up for the offensive production with a slightly lesser player, let’s say Malik Monk for example.
Put it this way..
I’d prefer Mikal on last year’s Suns, but I prefer Jalen on this year’s Suns.

Re: 2025 NBA Offseason News
So you’re of the mindset you should be contending or tanking?
Only 6 teams that should be trying to win?
Jalen Green just really hasn’t shown us anything to indicate he’s going to be a good nba player. I hope that changes, but he’s been the same guy since entering the league. He can score, but he’s inefficient and to this point I think he’s a negative on the court.
I agree there is theoretically a higher ceiling with Green, but Mikal has basically never been a negative on the court.
I also feel like calling Monk a lesser player is incorrect. Even with a down year last year, Monk had a similar TS% as green. He’s historically been a better shooter and he’s also a better playmaker.
Now would I trade Green for Monk? No, I think Green can definitely replicate Monk and has more potential, but I think my overall point is Jalen Green has not been a good basketball player. He has real nba skills of course, but inefficient, undersized SG who don’t really defend or pass are just not that valuable…look at Collin Sexton who just got traded for Nurkic. Miami has tried to trade Herro for years and he’s just not that enticing(and he’d be a fantastic outcome imo for Green).
Ya Mikal has taken a step back on defense, but he’s not a negative defender. He can step up and defend people when needed and did so in the playoffs. I’m sure the Knicks were hoping for a little more of that half season after the KD trade of Brooklyn Bridges, but 6’6 wings with length that can defend, shoot and take on a little on ball reps if needed(3rd option) are just more valuable.
I guess we’ll see what happens, but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if Green is better than Mikal this year or next.

A lot to respond to without much time. Maybe I’ll buy the in-flight wifi.
My point about teams lying to themselves is the real contenders probably won’t be in the contention category if they’re paying a Mikal type of player that percentage of their salary cap. He’s a glue guy at his best, not someone who can shoulder offensive load. Maybe Jalen never gets there either, but there’s a lot more runway for the Suns to find out. Problem for us is he’ll be up for a new deal right when his production becomes undervalued.
Green vs. Monk is a silly debate to me. Monk has 4 years more experience than Green and it’s very clear to me that Green is more talented and physically gifted than Monk was 4 seasons ago.

Ya I think we’re probably talking about different things with Monk vs Green…I’m just saying Monk has been better, but yes he’s older and has the experience. I wasn’t really trying to compare them from a value standpoint. But yea, Green has more value.
I think the other tricky thing is Green has a PO on the 3rd year…if he pops, we have to pay him in 2 years.

I think Green having the shoulder the load for a top western team is really not getting the credit it deserves. Yeah he ran outta gas, in his first playoff experience, a lot of 23yr olds do. How many 23yo are the only legit scoring threat on a playoff team? I'm excited to see him with some real perimeter help.

I get the appeal of him having more help, but he averaged 2 points a game more than Sengun and Sengun proved to be a much more legit scoring threat than Green during the playoffs. Thompson and FVV also outscored Green in the playoffs.TOO wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 2:47 pmI think Green having the shoulder the load for a top western team is really not getting the credit it deserves. Yes I expect his efficiency numbers to improve next to Book, but I don’t really see him as #1 option at all. His on ball shooting isn’t good, his midrange game is awful, he’s not a good playmaker…he’s young, athletic, works hard, and can catch and shoot…that’s enough to think there’s more, but he’s definitely been disappointing so far in his young career. But I hope I’m wrong.
Re: 2025 NBA Offseason News
The Warriors defensive game plan was to take Green away. Of course the other guys picked up some slack, they had to.

Green seems to play more like Iverson. Is there a future where he learns how to play more like KJ?
Re: 2025 NBA Offseason News
Both are very athletic and make questionable off the court choices. Anything is possible.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 7:03 pmGreen seems to play more like Iverson. Is there a future where he learns how to play more like KJ?

Re: 2025 NBA Offseason News
How is Green not just a younger Beal?
Re: 2025 NBA Offseason News
Beal was a great shooter, 3 level scorer. Green is more of a Ja Morant get to the rim at will type offensively.

Looking forward to a year of drama on the Warriors' bench.

Seems like Embiid is done.
Re: 2025 NBA Offseason News
I know, right? These are the dog days of the offseason where we can go days with no posts. Funny how we want more after what we witnessed last season but on the other hand, now we have hope. Plus, the interest to see how all the new pieces fit together and how our young head coach does.
Somehow I have hope that Book/Green will perform better than Book/Beal. I'm also ready to watch Brooks scrap for us.
