I don't understand why. It's just so easy to NOT OPEN THE THREAD. But I'm really glad I have some place to shit on Ayton, even more so now that he's on the Lakers. Every single single game he'll have and the Lakers lose because he was the last one to get back on defense will be cathartic for me.

He sucks. We potentially have 2 better centers, maybe even 3. Let's close this book and leave it shut.

I thought his impact was about the same as Jaxson Hayes. So yeah, not a great start. Didn't catch the ball well, didn't really assert himself on either end of the floor. Made a couple of nice little midrange shots off of easy setups. It was like a lot of games that we saw his last couple of years in Phoenix. Just one game in a new situation, obviously, but no immediate evidence that he's changed.

It is what it is. He used to sleepwalk to 18 and 10 when he had something to prove. He used to play hard for stretches when his coach and teammates held him to a high standard. Now all that's gone and he'll be 14/10-ish. Interested to see if they JJ or Luka/LeBron make a concerted effort to raise his effort and level of play.

Not sure if I've said it here or to friends in the past, but if you put Amare's heart and desire into Ayton's body and you have a perennial MVP candidate. What a shame.
