I don't see it. I don't think he loves the game enough to go to China to continue his career. Besides, he's made enough for generational wealth as it is.

He will not have to work as hard to collect a check. His pride won’t allow him to fade into infamy. Getting traded to a sorry org like the Wizards is the final death blow. If he weren’t a #1 pick he’d have been forgotten about by now.

I admit I was wrong about him reaching another level after leaving Phoenix.

At the same time, I still would not have traded him. (Or Camara). It was a stupid trade that made the team worse, and we’re now left with nothing to show for it, except one could argue perhaps 1/3 of Miles B*****s? (Although Grayson was mainly salary filler in this latest trade). Ayton is still the best true center we’ve had.

Kudos and I agree to an extent.

For me it is similar to the Amare trade. We traded a key member of our team for bits. Now, they were both depreciating assets for different reasons (Amare his health and DA lost his motivation after getting paid).

Should've traded DA a year earlier IMO to Indy before his value tanked. Including Camara was malpractice.

I don’t get the obsession/anger at trading Camara. The simple fact of the matter is he was a second round pick that hadn’t developed into anything yet. He developed later and that couldn’t be foreseen. Name me 10 other second rounders that actually amounted to something. They traded him, whatever.

I think Camara showed enough promise already that it was already clearly dumb at the time to include him just to get rid of Ayton. Many people said so at the time. Yes, we didn't know exactly what he would become, and he's better than some might have predicted, but he had a ton of talent and upside even at the time of the trade. Many folks here were super excited for him being on our team.

I would compare it to, say, if we traded Rasheer Fleming right now just to get off of Jalen Green's contract. And then we watched Fleming grow to average 17 ppg on some other team. Lots of folks would say that it was stupid to throw in Fleming and that he was one of our best young assets.

"Name me 10 other second rounders that actually amounted to something." - Rasheer Fleming is on his way to being one. For that matter, Oso Ighodaro is another one on our roster. And plenty of other examples around the league (Nikola Jokic, Jalen Brunson, Draymond Green to name a few).

My guess is we didn't watch Summer League that year if that's the take. You can tell right away in SL which prospects have it- particularly wings. Guards score heavy even when they blow (Mike James) and centers are tough with shitty guard play, but you could tell in SL Camara had an nba ready body, IQ, mechanics on both ends.

The biggest mistake was not trading DA for Myles Turner the year before.

Now now, the biggest mistake was taking Ayton first overall. I wanted Luka in the draft and Capela in FA, we would have been great. Sigh.

There are two finals MVP’s from that draft and neither went top 10…SGA and Brunson might’ve been the real prizes.

I still remember suggesting(extremely early on) that I would trade Ayton for SGA…I don’t think many agreed with me haha

We had two picks ahead of SGA and three picks ahead of Brunson.

So technically (if we had made the Sixers trade in time), we could have had DA or Luka, plus SGA, plus Brunson. Lol.

Ya kinda crazy…though technically we didn’t trade for Mikal(10th) until we were on the clock at 16…but reports are we had a trade for SGA that James Jones stopped
