2026 NBA Playoffs - first round series
Re: 2026 NBA Playoffs - first round series
This is a masterclass in foul baiting. I still for the life of me, don't understand how they could review that Booker "offensive" foul on Caruso and not overturn it and say it was unnatural. Also, the one time we go to the ground, SGA obviously pushed off with his off hand and sent Gillespie sprawling. No call.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

This isn't just a player flopping. This is a coach teaching and having flopping as part of practice. This is a culture.Superbone wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 9:54 amThis is a masterclass in foul baiting. Let's face it - it's a "shoot and fall down" league. Almost all of the perimeter scorers do it - including Booker. I don't blame SGA for being better at it than anybody else, I blame the league for letting games be refereed that way. They wanted mor scoring so they started giving players a "gather step", they let them let them hook the defender with their arm as they try to get around them, they let them barrel down the lane to the basket to get blocking fouls. What we're seeing are the final results of the rule changes to change course away from the defensive, overly-physical basketball of the Bad Boy era.

Well, whatever it is, it's sickening and no fun. Time to course correct again. Get to somewhere in between. Maybe look at international basketball. Not that I watch a lot but I'm assuming it must be better. The Bobster wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 10:39 amLet's face it - it's a "shoot and fall down" league. On the other hand, at the very least they have to call it evenly. That SGA push off on Gillespie wasn't any better than anybody else's. His left arm clearly pushed Colin. No call. They really think Colin just lost his balance? Or was flopping? Then call flopping and at least the Suns could have spun the finger and got it overturned. It was obviously a push off. Not some masterclass push off that nobody else could imitate.

Re: 2026 NBA Playoffs - first round series
So many of the calls we see are close calls that have to be made immediately and teams have to make a judgement whether they should be challenged within seconds (in the instances where they can challenge). That's not really the ideal way to correct mistakes. They will catch most of the egregious ones (like who the ball was last touched by), but in a lot of cases a foul may not have been called so a team has nothing they challenge. Now that they've introduced prop betting it just adds another layer of suspicion regarding the fair officiating of games.

As for calling flopping, the calls are so rare considering how prevalent it is, that it makes the rule ineffective as teams claim it's being ignored.
Personally, I think the pendulum has swung too far in the direction of the offense and constant violations such as carrying, traveling, pushing off, hooking and illegal screens need to be officiated more closely.

I think 2, 7, and 9 were correct calls on that list…but annoying when the Thunder are getting away with stuff…hard to tell on the Green box out foul as the view isn’t great.

This is what happens when you trade for an aging superstar. Ask me how I know.

One untimely injury can fuck an entire season.

Apparently Rockets fans are losing it because KD wasn't with his team on the sidelines this game. FVV and others as well as Luka and the injured Lakers were all present. So glad we cut that cancer out from the team.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
