There is truth in this. A bigger 2 who is more of a 3 and D guy, next to Bledsoe would not be bad at all. Also, if you then bring IT off the bench and Ennis for the deep bench, you are in a good situation.

I would hate to lose Dragic for nothing though. Perhaps they are angling for a S&T.

If the guy isn't part of your future plans, then who cares about losing him for nothing. I get you want something back, but Dragic is a FA. No team is going to trade legit assets for a potential 3 month rental, so we don't have much leverage there. If you lose him, then make the best of his roster spot and leftover money. And if we do go with Bledsoe as our PG of the future, then I agree...a bigger, more physical SG that can hit the 3 would be ideal. Even Tucker at the 2 next the Bledsoe would give us a bigger, more phsycial defensive backcourt. Then a well rounded 3 that can handle and make plays off the bounce (TJ) would be a nice fit.

Afflalo would look good here. I would miss Dragic but Bledsoe/Afflalo/Warren/Kieff/Len isn't the worst line-up in the world. I still wonder what we are going to do with Gerald.

The more Dragic talks about playing the field in free agency, I would guess the more mgmt starts to plan about life without him.

I think the Dragic-Bledsoe backcourt is actually a huge strength and we'd lose something with a conventional 2 like Afflalo. Because of Bledsoe's struggles as a lead guard, it's ideal to pair him with someone that can run their own show competently.

Only if you let them...

They both had ample opportunities last year, when you could stagger their minutes. Adding IT to the equation has muddied that and relegated Dragic to the 2 almost full time.

Agreed. I wasn't commenting on the why, more about the current situation. We aren't letting our best floor general do much of that right now. And if we don't plan to change that soon, he is as good as gone. And it probably makes sense for him to leave.

I was just thinking how similar our guard line up is to the Bad Boys Pistons.

Isiah Thomas (6-1)=Goran Dragic (6-3)--scorer, ball handler, team emotional leader
Joe Dumars(6-3)=Eric Bledsoe (6-1)--Excellent defender, ball-handler, scores and passes too
Vinnie Johnson (6-1)= IT (5-9)--Shooter/scorer without a conscience off the bench

All we would need to do to complete the package would be to add clones for the following:

Dennis Rodman--Faried?
Adrian Dantley/Mark Aguirre--TJ Warren? (SF who can post up and score creatively inside)
Bill Laimbeer--No clue, rebounder, defender with an attitude and shoots threes (Keef has the attitude but is not the rebounder, defender or physical presence).
James Edwards--journeyman center, Alex Len?
John Salley--Brandan Wright

Bad Boy Pistons? No way; I could not disagree more with that comparison. They were, you know, tough. They played D and rebounded. Nobody on our team is anything like Laimbeer and Rodman, two of their most important and memorable players. Nobody on our team is like Isiah Thomas at all; Zeke could get everybody else involved better than any of our PGs can; he defended well; and in the 4th he could take over better than anybody on our team. I just don't see the similarity at all.

the dragic bledsoe combo worked last season. it was so good it even worked with bleds missing half the season.

and who should we blame for this?

McDo signed IT as insurance and negotiating leverage in case Bledsoe left. I don't fault him for that. But the 3-PG experiment has not worked, so we need to do something. Sadly I think the "solution" we're going to use is to let Dragic leave and just have Bledsoe be our full-time starting PG and IT as our full-time backup PG.

Be fair Nodack. It's usually just after losses. :P
I know. People get frustrated and vent. I'm sure the fans of every team do it. I can only imagine what they are saying on the Seattle Seahawks fan sites this week. There is some venting going on there I'm sure. They came this close to winning the Super Bowl and I bet half the fans want the coach run out of town.

My FB feed is the full range of emotions. Everybody up there in Seattle is distraught. This is their "Game 6" like the Spurs of a few years ago losing to the Heat. They seem to mostly support their team, though, and there aren't a lot of ragey calls to fire the coach or make trades that I have seen.

That was a fun ending coming from somebody that didn't care who won or lost.

Really, Dack? Seems like an awful ending to a casual fan to me (although I am not one). You want to see people excel to change the course of the game, not make one of the dumbest calls ever.

I didn't care either but I didn't want to see that great fumble catch go to waste. And with that great running back, I still can't believe they didn't go to him to win the game with multiple attempts available. Run the damn ball!

I'm sure they would have tried Lynch if the pass was incomplete.

I don't have a problem with the play call.
