If Pelicans are able to trade up for Scoot, I would think McCollum would be available, right?
What about this?
Pels: Ayton, Shamet
Suns: McCollum, Nance
Valanciunas would also work too but I would think you definitely have to wave and stretch CP for cap reasons.
Depends on how Willie Green feels about Ayton. Also, the Pels aren't making a trade for Ayton with Valanciunas still on the roster. And while I don't think McCollum is untouchable, I don't think they would give him up to bring in Ayton. He is kind of the heart and soul of that team, and with Zion being unreliable, and the internal frustration with Ingram's prolonged absence, I don't see them shipping out the most steady player to make a potentially lateral move of Valanciunas to Ayton.
I don't think you followed CJ this year. He was roughhh. It was also his first "healthy" season in 4 seasons, and I think that's only because he played through injury. I'd avoid him - especially at his cost.
Love Nance, but he's also always hurt.
I think CJ just had a down year being ask to be their best player for most of the year and carrying their bum asses. Being the 3rd option next to Book and KD would make life so much easier. He could have a big year.

I also don't think it makes sense for the Pelicans to have McCollum play point. I think he is better off the ball.

Could a team theoretically trade for him, then waive and re-sign him for the minimum same as we speculated we would do? Could be a partial salary dump for the other team if we were willing to take on the extra money? For instance, CP, Shamet and Ish for Bojan, Burks, RJ Hampton and Isiah Livers works - then Detroit waives CP and re-signs him.

There would be no point in waiving him because the Suns have to guarantee his deal in that trade for the salaries to match.

I believe you and Split who posted that last week, but I've heard so many people on podcasts recently claim otherwise. It's frustrating to follow when basic information is incorrect.

Here’s the rule:
“After a team's season ends (and through June 30), they use the lesser of the full salary for the current season and the guaranteed base salary for the upcoming season.”
Pulled it from cbafaq.com

No interest at his salary and don't think he solves our issues. Something to watch for tho...

No interest?!?!)
I have tons of interest, I just don’t see how we could possibly field any remotely decent squad with Book,KD and Beals salaries taking up the entire cap. Essentially would be tied to minimum deals to fill it out

Ayton for Kuzma please. Porzingis would also be acceptable but warriors could probably package Poole and Kuminga.

Yeah, the financials are far too much for Beal. Good player, but the Suns need 3 guys at 15m per not 1 guy at 50m per at this stage.

We also need some defenders, not an undersized shooting guard.

Yeah, I get the sense the focus will be on bringing in solid role playing defenders to work in Vogel's system rather than taking a flyer on a Beal / Derozan type.

I really think you need a 3-D wing with size to put at the 3 between Book and KD. Ideally someone both durable and a strong rebounder.

Yeah, anything to take some of the defensive load off of KD and Book would be good.

I'm sure I'll get shot down in flames for this but I wouldn't be averse to bringing J** C****** back to fill that role if options are limited.

And I'm sure that:
1. Sacramento is not interested in signing and trading him here
2. Harrison Barnes is not interested in playing for the MLE

No to Beal. No to Harden. No to Kyrie or whatever other ball dominant star is linked to us.
We need solid role players. We have our batman and Robin.
Where this could help us is if they find a trade partner and need a 3rd team to make salaries match or get back a young building block.
