NBA Finals discussion
Re: NBA Finals discussion
That was a very physical game. Refs left at least half of the fouls uncalled. I think this makes it a hard game for both teams, because players don't really know what they can and can't do.
Cleveland's defense was much worse in the second half, then in the previous three halves and that allowed Curry to get his shots off. Also Barnes is having a great series.
I think Iguodala might be my favorite player. It feels like he can defend half of the opposing team at the same time, while on offense he's a great playmaker and I can't remember seeing him take a bad shot. And he shoots alright on the good ones.

Re: NBA Finals discussion
Iggy's jumper has a bit of a hitch in it, and he sometimes misses his 3s pretty badly. But otherwise he's amazing and he does hit his 3s at a decent percentage overall. He's a great player who is a huge contributor to the Warriors' winning ways.
I love Livingston, too. He's just so in control, always makes the right decision. What more could any team want from their backup PG? They're so lucky to have a guy like that around as a role player.
I thought McAdoo played pretty darn well in the limited minutes they gave him. Impressive for a young guy to just come in with almost no playtime in the playoffs before that and deliver. He made Festus "I can't hit FTs" Ezili seem pretty expendable.

The story of this finals is that the Ws have incredible depth, and their stars don't freeze out the role players.

I really wish guys like Bledsoe and Knight would watch this Finals and say, hey wait a minute, Steph and Klay don't hog the ball! The whole team passes! That works well! We should try that, too!
But instead every NBA player is watching Steph/Klay and going, oh wow, it's okay to chuck up 35-footers and you'll win a title anyway!

The Cavaliers should trade Kevin Love this summer, but where?

Re: NBA Finals discussion
Green really makes that team go in the half-court, we dont have a player that can facilitate the offense like that. He allows the Splash Bros to run around and get open looks. I dont think Bledsoe hogs the ball, he just makes dumb under the rim jump passes to guys who cant catch. Knight is a ball hog for sure though.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:I really wish guys like Bledsoe and Knight would watch this Finals and say, hey wait a minute, Steph and Klay don't hog the ball! Re: NBA Finals discussion
The difference is golden state runs 4-5 players that can facilitate. Steph, klay, Iggy, green, bogut are all good passers.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:I really wish guys like Bledsoe and Knight would watch this Finals and say, hey wait a minute, Steph and Klay don't hog the ball! For us Bledsoe and Knight have the ball so much because nobody else on our team can create offense for others. Warren, Tucker, Teletovic, Goodwin, Chandler, and Len are all below average to bad passers. Booker is the only non point guard on the team I feel even semi confident in when he's got the ball.
This is why I think our biggest need is playmaking, especially at the 3-4. Guys like denzel Valentine, DeAndre Bembry, Domantas Sabonis, and possibly dragan bender should be our top targets if we don't add playmakers another way.
Re: NBA Finals discussion
Iggy should have been ours! Yet another little detail that Sarver and co blew that could have been the difference in a title for us in the Nash years.

As our core?
I see that group equal to or better than the current starting five in Golden State.
Sarver spun the decision to not use the pick somehow in his favor. I know others have said that we could not afford drafting Iggy because we signed Q and that ate up all the space. I just believe that was spin. I got to believe we could have dumped salary elsewhere to free up room for the 6th pick in the draft while filling in the roster with vet minimums. How can you be so ignorant to pass up the 6th pick in any draft, especially that draft with the group of players that we had.
Put Iggy on that team and D'Antoni all of sudden becomes a pretty good defensive coach.
This is why I question any decision that Sarver makes. The record shows that he does not have a clue.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.
Re: NBA Finals discussion
That's something I'll look for in Watson next year. I felt that our passing did improve after he took over. Before that, we had to have 4 guys behind the 3pt line or it was an automatic turnover, and no way in hell could we complete a pass toward the basket - all of our passing had to go toward the 3pt line. About 2 games after Watson took over I started seeing successful lobs to Chandler. We will see if we get more passing and better spacing next year.Split T wrote:The difference is golden state runs 4-5 players that can facilitate. Here's a replay if anyone wants it:

This is bullshit call in my opinion. Twice as much if James doesn't get a tech as well (EDIT: he did, but still). I have no idea what groin contact they are talking about, but it was James who started walking over Green. This is also a good example of contact the refs allowed in the game, they should have stopped the play there. And even after a double foul was called Green started walking away and James was the one bitching around. Gross. And I don't even like Green...

Re: NBA Finals discussion
"Groin contact", are you kidding me? I watched that two or three times when it originally happened and that never even came to mind. This is obviously a makeup call for his previous groin contact infractions and an attempt at extending the series. Dumb.

Re: NBA Finals discussion
I watched the replay on NBA TV in slow motion after the game and Green did attempt to hit Lebron in the gonads but just missed. Thus I am not surprised in this decision.Superbone wrote:"Groin contact", are you kidding me? I watched that two or three times when it originally happened and that never even came to mind. I also think that Lebron could be arrested for assault and battery most every nights, I kind of wish Green's back handed punch would not have missed the target.
I really hope the Warriors somehow step up and beat Lebron without Green.
Green really needs to be punished. He is a marvelous player but this stuff has to stop.

Re: NBA Finals discussion
Feels like a call to make up for not suspending him for his ninja kicks versus OKC. Typical.
Re: NBA Finals discussion
I think that's completely reasonable. If a player gives opponents a solid whack to the nuts three times during the playoffs and the first two are apparently intentional, you penalize him for the third even if it's questionable. By this point he should know to be careful of other players' nuts. It's not like he didn't know where LeBron's nuts were when he rose up into them.Superbone wrote:"Groin contact", are you kidding me? He does seem a little obsessed with the groin area....

Re: NBA Finals discussion
Apparently they aren't suspending him for the hit. They just upgraded it to a flagrant 1. The problem is if you get too many flagrant fouls you are automatically suspended for a game. Green hit that limit.
Something like that anyways.

Re: NBA Finals discussion
The second groin kick was called a Flagrant 1. Kerr laughably predicted that it would be downgraded to a common foul; it was actually upgraded to a Flagrant 2.
The incident with LeBron was upgraded to a Flagrant 1. The two upgrades put him over the line (3 points in the playoffs) with only a single Flagrant 1 having been called on the floor.
