Say the Suns were able to land a Fultz, Ball, or Jackson, of course they aren't as good as Cousins is now, but they could be better winners in the near future. We already know that everyone loves playing with Ball, he would be attractive to free agents, because he gets it and gets his teammates the ball where they are successful. He is the closest thing to Kidd that we've seen, and he's a far better shooter now than Kidd was coming out of college. He's the Curry type, working on his game all the time to get better and better, because he loves the game. I just don't see Cousins gelling with his teammates or making them better. Maybe if the Suns had a strong coach AND an alpha star, like ShelC said, but I just don't see this going well when he is going to command $207 mil extension this summer(which is including next year's $16 mil contract).

There's also that, which some speculated could've been one of our guys. Other guesses were Denver and Portland but the assistant coach thing is interesting. We have Tyrone Corbin on staff, who coached DMC while he was with the Kings. Maybe he's working to convince our FO a trade is worthwhile. Two Nuggets assistants were also in Sacramento with Mike Malone so they could be the ones just the same.
I tend to agree with Carey on this. As a long time Suns fan, there is such appeal in have the potential overall #1 pick. And you keep rookies for 7-8 years. It would be fascinating to hear what the players are saying about this. Do other players like him?

I'm fine taking a potential superstar guard because we have the bigs. Even if they're not superstars, it's a guard's game. Chriss and Bender project to be quality players and having a great guard can make them better.

You seriously think that a Suns team with Bledsoe/Booker/Cousins will be competing for the "potential #1 pick"?

If the Suns trade for Cousins, their gonna end up with the 8th or 9th seed this season and then next year their likely going to be a top 6 seed in the West.

The Suns are slightly less dysfunctional than the Kings currently.

So he and Eric are friends. Sounds good. Does their friendship make Eric a better playmaker?

Have we seen anything out of Watson that makes anyone feel like he can make Cousins any happier than any of his previous 7, or whatever, coaches?

I don't see how this could yield any different results than in Sacramento other than basing it on sheer luck.

Oh and another thing. I have no reason to trust McDonough with a trade.

Gambo says the source for this is in the KINGS organization, not the Suns. So, how does that work? Why would someone in the Kings org put out what many think is a low starting offer?

ShelC wrote:Burns and Gambo just hashed it out, saying what we're all saying. I mentioned needing Tyson for some lockerroom order, but even I don't think he's enough. Burns and Gambo were saying it might take a well run organization with either a strong coach or a strong player to get Cousins to shut up and buy in. A place like SA with Pop or Cleveland with LBJ, GS with Curry and Durant. Coaches and/or players he has to respect. Not sure Tyson or Bledsoe are those guys. Same for Watson.

The most consistent thing I've seen and heard is that Cousins is a bully. Bullies his teammates when he thinks he's leading, bullies the media (check the video when he curses out a reporter).

The more I think about it, the more I think he'd just walk all over everyone in the organization and we'd be the same as the Kings.
This pretty much sums up my thoughts. I can understand the attraction of Cousins but I think it would end in tears

Wait for summer. That pick is not worth as much in trade right now because the trade itself makes the Suns better and lowers the value on the pick. Also, Cousins can be extended this summer. I don't think the Kings are going to trade Cousins to anyone else right now anyway.

Glad you finally understood this viewpoint instead of continuing to argue about whether or not its worth trading a top pick for Cousins now.

I'm on the Kings board and their laughing about how Len is considered an asset. They think Len is trash and would take every center on their team over him and they say he's on par with Sim Bhullar (who?) who's some guy they had on their D league team or something.

So perhaps the market for Alex Len won't be that great in the summer after all

Two loser organizations overvaluing their assets. Without Cousins the Kings would only have 15 wins instead of 19. Without all of our assets being discussed in this trade we'd be lucky to have 13 wins instead of 15. The swap would be lateral in that neither team would climb out of their multi year suck they've been in. The only thing that would have a glimmer of hope in tilting the scales on such a trade is that Bledsoe and Cousins really did mesh well and propel Cousins into the superstar player he's been shitting away for years by being such a cancer. And as beautiful as that has the potential to maybe be true, how long would it last before Bledsoe blew out his knee and Cousins reverted to the cancerous cyst eating away at the organization from the core? It would be the Morris Twins part deux.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

DeMarcus Cousins is the best big man in the league. If he can be acquired for the package that's been rumored then it should be done.

I'm not going to defend Cousin's past actions, but Sacramento's FO is somehow more of a shit show than the Suns.

I'd prefer to keep Chriss over Len. It's too difficult to determine which will be the better player in the long term, but Chriss is the younger and cheaper asset.

Not into cousins. He's very good but, he is a head case. I have more fun rooting for a team when I like the players as people.
In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.

Would be a total Sarver/McD thing to trade all your assets for a loser. If it gets McD fired, do the trade, I dont care at this point. We'll never rebuild properly.

Two or three marginal starters and a late lottery pick are far from all the teams assets.

This is the best strategy for rebuilding if you're unable to hit a home run in the draft, which usually requires getting a top three pick in the first place. Collect as many assets as possible and swap them for an elite player.

At this point, I'm not crazy about any of the draft prospects in this coming draft. There's some good ones and I'll be happy if the Suns get one, but I don't see anyone in the draft being on the same level as Cousins within the next five years.

I would pass on Cousins.

On an unrelated note, if we had a GM that had any sort of clue, we'd move Bledsoe now. His value will never be higher. Move him now (should be a member of the Orlando Magic by the end of February).
