No particular news item, but I thought we should have a separate thread for talking about the 2016 Olympic team. So, here it is.

I can't bring myself to watch. Saw the HBO Real Sports documentary and the IOC is fucking gross.

100m/200m sprints, and USAMBB. Nothing else is even remotely entertaining to me.

I can't help but root for China. They're working so hard for every bucket they get.

Maybe they should have practiced more. No amount of hard work was going to help them in that game.

:D

Yeah, saw that. So you can guarantee me that if I tune to NBC at 3 p.m. Monday I can watch the US/Venezuela game?

OK, I got the scoop on the next US men's basketball game against Venezuela. Tune into NBCS at 3 pm PT for two hours (pad for OT; yeah, right). On DirecTV you can find it on channel 220.

Interesting to read some of the comments so far, here in the Caribbean the Olympics a really big deal and my cable provider actually has 5 channels showing events. I have watched a couple games already so far as NBA players all over the tourney , was surprised yesterday to see how easily Bogut-Patty-Delly lead Aussies made light work of Parker-Batum-Diaw-Gobert they won by like 20. Barbs played really well today as Brazil's leader , they were down 20+ at Half and he lead the comeback cutting the lead down to 4 late in the game.

Right now more Ball is on also with Pau-Mirotic-Rubio going up against Croatia who has Boban Bogdanovic and Hezoinja who are playing pretty well. I heard alot about the Saric kid who is going Sixers but he hasn't done much so far

I have to say that the most entertaining thing I have seen so far in the Olympics has been the ping-pong. It's crazy what those guys can do.

Least entertaining, if you exclude the opening ceremony: soccer. 70 minutes in, score 0-0. What's the point?

That leg injury. Nasty. The French male Gymnast. Compound tibia fracture. The reaction from those around him and the audience. The one woman laughing hysterically.

What's worse. The ambulance dudes dropped him when they were taking him off. Landed on his head and suffered a few additional injuries.

Also heard that a rower capsized when he hit a couch floating down the water. No joke.

NBC has a cool app that allows you to watch different events like Basketball on the app. You can start late and pause/FF.

Anyone who thinks Rubio is better than Bledose should watch Spain @ Brasil.
Brasil let Rubio shoot everywhere he wanted, and he fouled out.

Brasil won by 1. Mirotic slept and let Marquinhos score with the tip.

Bledsoe is a better all-around basketball talent. But he only plays in 2/3 of the games. And he is a driving PG that is not good (compared to the rest of the PGs in the league) at passing or making good decisions with the ball. His A:TO ratio is atrocious. I really hope that doesn't stay that way the rest of his career, but I don't think there are a lot of examples of guys finally turning it around in year 7 or beyond. He isn't what is needed for this team.

I will amend that last sentence, and say that the way he behaves off the court and in the community is exactly what this team needs, though. Too bad we don't have an on-court and off-court example in the same guy.

Didn't see this one but how about Spain now losing to Croatia and Brasil to be 0-2
