The Suns are hovering just outside the top six in the West, having won three straight games, including a thrashing of the Dončić-less Lakers on Tuesday.

Three takeaways

The Suns made some big defensive plays down the stretch of their first of two wins in New Orleans over the weekend. Mark Williams picked Derik Queen’s pocket, Ryan Dunn blocked a Zion Williamson layup for the lead, and then Dunn deflected a Jordan Poole pass in the final minute. Phoenix is averaging 10.8 steals per 100 possessions, the highest rate for any team in the last 23 seasons.

Overall, the Suns now rank as the league’s most improved defensive team, having allowed 4.2 fewer points per 100 possessions than they did last season. A lot of that improvement is the league’s biggest jump in opponent turnover rate, but they’ve also seen significant drops in both opponent 3-point rate and opponent 3-point percentage.

The Suns haven’t been as good an offensive team as they were last season, but their game against the Lakers was an opportunity for them to break out of a little offensive slump, and their 132 points on 95 possessions were their best offensive performance of the season. It came with 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting from Dillon Brooks, who continues to register the highest true shooting percentage of his career (56.8%) while having seen the league’s biggest jump in usage rate (from 17.6% to 28%) among 316 players who’ve played at least 200 minutes in each of the last two seasons.

Coming up: The Suns are the only team that hasn’t played in an Eastern Conference arena, and they’ve played just two total games against the East thus far. They’ll double that total in the next three days, finishing their four-game trip with visits to Washington and Cleveland. Their game in D.C. on Monday (for which Williams is suspended) will be their second rest-advantage game of the season.

Week 11: @ WAS, @ CLE, vs. SAC, vs. OKC

9. Phoenix Suns (+4)

2025-26 Record: 18-13 | Last Week's Schedule: vs. LAL (W24), at NOP (W7), at NOP (W9)

Upcoming Week's Schedule: at WAS (12/29), at CLE (12/31), vs. SAC (1/2), vs. OKC (1/4)

With their big win over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Phoenix Suns have jumped into the top 10 of the NBA power rankings and are riding high now that Devin Booker is back on the court. Since returning from injury, Booker has averaged 26.8 points per game and has scored at least 21 points in six straight games.

Over their last six games, with Booker back on the court, Phoenix ranks 11th in offensive rating and fourth in defensive rating. While Booker masks a lot of this team's offensive problems, the Suns have proven to be a tough defensive team every night. That is why they have been the biggest surprise in the West this season.

Translation:
"A girl looking at you when she's interested"

"Then a guy looking at you when he's interested"

I'm pissing myself laughing

including a thrashing of the Dončić-less Lakers on Tuesday.
And they never mention that the Suns were without Allen, Dunn, and especially Green

That corner 3 off the move for CG is damn near automatic. I think he's shooting 60% from the corners.

Phoenix Suns' Jalen Green fined $25K by NBA for profanity on live TV
Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green has been fined $25,000 for using profanity during a live post-game television interview after the team's 115-101 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday, Dec. 29.
The incident occurred when Green, who has been out recovering from a hamstring injury, ran up to teammate Collin Gillespie as he was being interviewed live on the court by Arizona's Family Sports soon after the game concluded.
...
Green, who has been accompanying the team and providing support from the bench while recovering from a right hamstring injury, came up to Gillespie and said, ''They can't even (expletive) with you,'' in a show of exuberant support for his teammate's performance.
Gillespie reacted, saying, “Oh my God. On live TV, bro?” Green responded: “I don’t care.”
What the f**k!!!

James Jones strikes again! I wonder if he resents Ishbia and the Suns?
