Carey always re-posts the links I post here. Annoyingly, he even re-posts them BEFORE I post them myself.

That is annoying. We should confiscate his TARDIS.

NBA Beat: Isaiah Thomas adjusts to role with Suns but still longs to be a starter
Thomas is happy in his new situation after the Suns committed to him when Sacramento never made a serious attempt to retain him as its starting point guard.

Thomas, however, wouldn’t be the player he is if he accepted he’s destined to be a career-long reserve.

“It’s tough because I value myself as a starter, and in this organization they value me as a starter,” Thomas said. “But I’ve got to do what’s best for this team and what’s best as of right now is to come off the bench and be the sixth man and play my game when I do get in.

“But at the same time, who wants to be a sixth man? Everyone wants to start. That’s my ultimate goal. But when it’s about winning and you do whatever it takes to win, individual success will take care of itself.”

----

Thomas said he’s focused on Phoenix, but Sacramento topics persist.

“It was tough because people always say, ‘You always talk about the Kings,’” Thomas said. “I don’t. People always ask me questions about the Kings and I just answer the question about it. At the end of the day, I wish them the best, and I’ve got to be focused ... and try to get to the playoffs.”

I don't have a problem with those quotes. I especially liked this quote:
“It was tough because people always say, ‘You always talk about the Kings,’” Thomas said. “I don’t. People always ask me questions about the Kings and I just answer the question about it. At the end of the day, I wish them the best, and I’ve got to be focused ... and try to get to the playoffs.”
Not a lot of players will just say something like "I wish them (the Kings) the best, and now I'm focused on the Suns and getting to the playoffs." That helps a lot toward moving on. No need to talk trash or feed the media frenzy for drama.

I took it that the local sheet was trying to bait Thomas - nothing more.....

And Thomas passed the test with flying colors.

Me either. I think they were very appropriate. If he didn't value himself as a starter, I don't think he would be very successful.

Everyone? Manu Ginobili doesn't mind being a sixth man. Neither did Kevin McHale and a lot of other great players. They can come off the bench and still be one of their team's top players and be on the court in crunch time.

That doesn't mean they didn't want to start. They are/were just willing to do what it takes to win. Which is Isaiah's point.

Isaiah seems like a cool dude and I am glad he is on his team. Plus, he looks shorter than me which makes him cooler.

From BSotS, Hornacek on how the Suns plan to use the Bakersfield Jam:
"We want our guys to be around us as much as possible," he said. " So they continue to learn and do our thing."
"It is not where we would send them to Bakersfield for prolonged periods. We'll use that as 'Hey, go down there for a couple games, get some minutes and playing time, and we'll get you back here."
D-League opening night is this Friday.

I feel like Thomas should think of himself as a Jason Terry type. Sometimes starter, great 6th man, plays in crunch time, can hit the big shot.

And Terry got himself a ring doing that. :-)

Thomas's comments are fine. Nothing wrong with that. I attribute has bad game vs the kings to the fact his Grandfather had died shortly before the game. Its tough to get your mind right after losing someone so close to you.
