Phoenix Suns basketball is back, baby! The Suns home opener is tonight against the Dallas Mavericks at the newly renamed Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix. Dirk is starting his 18th season with the Mavs but Tyson Chandler wants this one badly against the team that let him go. Twice!

"He's going to be fired up. That's Tyson," Nowitzki said about tonight's game. "But so is everybody else. This is the season opener. For them it's the home opener. Everybody's going to be juiced up."

Agreed. When I first saw it, I read "We Are Phoenix". Can't believe they went with spelling it out. Sounds stupid.

Its becoming fashionable to call cities by their airport codes. ATL and CLT at leasts.

Have you noticed that in speech too, or just written? I have heard Atlanta referred to as ATL quite a bit, but never Charlotte by CLT (except in writing). I think the more you travel, and the more you type on mobile devices, the likelier you are to use airport codes for city names in text.

It's also not very original. Actually, neither are.
University of Phoenix had a campaign "I am a Phoenix" a couple of years back promoting its graduates.

There's no copyright infringement, but it's dull and unimaginative, just the same.

I will watch how Hornacek deploys his bench.

If this team wants to get into the playoffs, the coaching staff will have to go with the hot hand as well as be aware of good matchups. In other words, they'll have to summon the ghost of Cotton Fitzsimmons...
