Suns News: Week 5 11/23-11/29

Week 4 is in the books. The Suns went 2-2 with a loss to a fairly good team and one to a fairly bad team. There are a couple things to be encouraged by though! Aside from their "winning" record they are supposedly a top-10 offensive and defensive team. They also did not get blown out in their two recent losses which were both by 6 points. My big issue is that they're constantly giving up over 100 points, though they are top 3 in the league in pace, it's not good to always pencil the other team in for 100. Unless you're always scoring 120.

Last Week's Games

vs. Los Angeles Lakers WIN 120-101
vs. Chicago Bulls LOSS 103-97
@ Denver Nuggets WIN 114-107
@ New Orleans Pelicans LOSS 122-116

This Week's Games

Monday, November 23rd @ San Antonio Spurs 8:30PM EST
Wednesday, November 25th vs. New Orleans Pelicans 9:00PM EST
Friday, November 27th vs. Golden State Warriors 9:30PM EST
Sunday, November 29th @ Toronto Raptors 6:00PM EST

Wow, this week is a murderer's row. We could legitimately go 0-4 in those games. I'm scared. We have looked pretty spry in this young season so far, but an awful Week 5 could change the mood and outlook a lot. I really hope they can get a 2-2 split here and make it through this very rough stretch. Maybe we could beat the Pels and Raps and call it good.

Look at it this way: at least you'll get to see one really good team ...

I don't expect us to win, but I do expect it to be a fun game.

I'm envious.
Golden State plays well enough to win on bad days, and kills it on good days.
Luke Walton is doing a great job using the bench. He may be a good coach in the making ...

He may be. Or he may have inherited the best team... ever?

Sure, both are possibilities. I don't like how the media are all claiming the team is on auto-pilot and Luke has nothing to do with it. He's admitted that he doesn't have a clue what he's doing out there but the results speak otherwise. We've seen what bad head coaches can do to a good team. Clearly he learned something during his time as an assistant. We should think about giving a little bit of credit where credit is due.

Fair, but doing well with a returning champion in November doesn't mean much.

I'm going to be bold and predict we win the Golden State game.

I really want us to be the first team to beat the Warriors.

I think it can happen. I assume the Warriors will be like 15 point favorites, though.

Overconfidence can bite you sometimes. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn sometimes. On any given night... If we score more than them we should have a good chance. They would have to give 110% and take it one game at a time and leave it all on the court. 1 team 1 mission. Champions are made when no one is watching. Winners never quit and quitters never win. Yada, yada, yada. :D

We were the first team last year to do it, might as well keep that going

The Warriors would have already set the "best start to a season" record by then, right? If so, that's our best hope. Catch them when they've let up a bit. I still think they will murder us, though.

This could get uglier, fast.
Next eight games are tough, especially a six-game road swing.
Don't be surprised if Phoenix goes 2-6 in the next couple of weeks.

After watching him do nearly nothing almost ever minute he is on the floor, that is not surprising at all.

Did it include last night's game? I'm surprised he's that high.

When you consider most of the guys that bad are playing in limited minutes and/or limited games, that makes sense. I mean, the only guys getting over 20 mpg that are close to as bad as Keef are Noel, Randle and Tolliver. Considering how bad the Lakers and Philly are, that is saying a lot.
