Re: All Things Ayton

I think that folks are justifiably frustrated with him. I also think that they are cognitively biased against the guy. I don't see anything that he says that is worthy of ridicule this time. But we've all seen him say one thing and do another, so our expectations are that it would happen again. But ...

Good trade. Give Cam a chance to earn another contract.

Re: Game Day - Summer League Edition: Suns (0-1) @ Heat (1-0), Mon 7/10/23

If every Suns player had been healthy for the 2 months leading up to and during the entire playoffs would the outcome have been different? Maybe, but not certainly. Jokic is so good right now that it's not unrealistic to imagine him overcoming 3 surefire Hall of Fame players (and Ayton). It's not a...

Re: All Things Ayton

Well...it seems like the league is starting to prioritize size once again. Would argue that the trend against centers has gone too far.

Re: All Things Ayton

Who has a better year this year, Jalen Duren or Deandre Ayton? Duren is the kind of big Monty likes. I feel bad for Duren. He’ll never reach his full potential under Monty. Jeremy, you’re the HC of Suns. WWYD with Ayton this next season? What do you mean? As far as being part of the offensive syste...

Re: 2023 General Offseason/PostSeason League News

Well said, Split. The whole issue is a byproduct of having an 82-game season that lacks incentive to maintain a consistent high level of competition. That's simply too many games, but the revenue is baked into every single operation by the league and individual teams so it's never going to signific...

Re: Suns Trade For Beal!

Ya I’m starting to think Okogie or Goodwin might start. Booker/Beal/Okogie/KD/Ayton Payne/Gordon/Yuta/KBD/Eubanks Goodwin/Lee/Todd/Ish/Metu If Okogie can play the whole season like he did for those 2 months, we’d have a really nice lineup. I’m very intrigued to see how good Goodwin is as well. I ca...

Re: Suns sign Eric Gordon

In Ishbia we trust. The crazy thing is that every off-season, his desire to win at all costs is going to make for some amazing off-season excitement for the rest of many of our lives. It feels like the teams owned by Colangelo again to be honest. With some notable differences, limited to the mid-to...

We should learned from the D'Antoni era that the whole "they have to guard us too" isn't a championship strategy.
Don't think this is what they are planning, this is just hyperbole.

Re: Suns Trade For Beal!

I really think people hablve forgotten how good a healthy Beal is. Just a couple years removed from 30ppg. Always had better than average efficiency on all levels. He's such a massive upgrade from Paul offensively, and now he's the 3rd wheel, he should have his way here. All of that can be true and...

Re: All Things Ayton

If it wasn't obvious, it was a rhetorical question. The kind of contract Ayton is getting is the new normal. Of course, there's going to be a lot of buyer's regret. But it's clear that Ayton's deal isn't some kind of outlier. I don't think that is accurate at all. People didn't think Ayton's contra...

Re: All Things Ayton

One serious question. Would you rather pay Ayton what he is making or Sabonis 43.4mm per year for the next 5 years? I love these fake either/or scenarios. How about neither? And what you have to remember is context. Sacramento has been able to accomplish anything since the early 2000s. They are ove...

Re: All Things Ayton

IF Ayton buys in to Vogel and understands what a great situation he is in, he could have a career year. A lot of ifs but I'm feeling pretty good about this upcoming season based on what I know about the FAs we have acquired. And then Gordon was the cherry on top for me. This upcoming season on pape...

The cap goes up every year, so this was always going to be the perception as long as he's not out with a major injury.

He's still overpaid by about $10M/year.

Re: All Things Ayton

As Bob said, health is always the X-factor. To that point, at least we no longer have to worry about leaning into Chris Paul ball only for him to eventually miss games in the Playoffs. I hope Kevin Young has something cooked up to balance the offensive workload. I do think we can now survive an inj...
