Re: 2022 NBA Draft Thread
They're also not part of any kind of solution unless you can find a deal where we throw him in as filler.
He really has only one outstanding skill, and his doesn't do that enough to make him a dependable rotation player.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Thread
Disappointed but not surprised. I just don't think this front office values the draft, at least not while we're winning and the roster is more or less set. Midway thru the 1st round I felt like all the "trying to buy into the draft" would end up being BS. Also felt like Jones' remarks aft...

Re: Another Ayton Poll
I like him, but with Jokic, Gobert and Towns ahead of him in the West, I don't see him as having a great chance.
In the East with Embiid, Adebayo and Allen it's a little more likely.

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
So after losing a bug chunk of his salary because of the pandemic Irving's going to flush $30 million to sign with the Lakers?
Not likely.

Re: Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?
Destroyed? Those are strong words. Like I said earlier, frustration in the heat of battle is totally normal with these guys. There is nothing that can't be repaired. "Time wounds all heels." If they let him get away for nothing they also lose his salary slot since they're operating over t...

Re: Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?
8% raises over 4 years would be $136.6 million or $34.2 million a year, so if you discount the fifth season (which is about $40 million) it's a little under $6 million difference.

Re: Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?
From NBA Salary Cap FAQ (http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm) - "If a team matches an offer sheet and retains its free agent, then for one year they cannot trade him without his consent , and during that year cannot trade him at all to the team that signed him to the offer sheet." I've to...

Re: Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?
So if a team wants him, the Suns should be making it clear that they're fine with matching any offers and keeping him (even if they aren't) in order to get the best S&T offers possible. And if Ayton really wants to go somewhere else in particular he'd better hope that team is willing to compensa...

Re: Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?
Yep, if they match an offer they can't trade him without his consent for a year. Base year makes it complicated anyway.wpmiller42 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 12:45 pmI think we'll keep him, having forced to match an unfavorable offer sheet, which will also make him unlikely to be traded till next season.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Thread
I think Johnson's probably going to price himself out of the Suns future plans. He'll probably ask for $20 million and you can find shooters for a lot cheaper than that. I don't think he has the size or athleticism to play PF, and he's blocked by Bridges at SF. He's a great piece to have to play bot...

Re: Suns Off-Season Thread
One area that needs fixing is having long-term vision when it comes to player development and the cap. How they handled Jalen Smith and Deandre Ayton and their upcoming free agency has only managed to put themselves in a "sell low" position on both. The smart thing with Smith would have be...

Re: All Things Ayton
The one who was really terrible against Dallas was Bridges - 35.6 Min, 9.9 Pts, 4.9 Reb, 40.6 FG%, 27.8 3P% That’s blasphemy Bobster, you’re not aloud to say bad things about Bridges. Hey, we all love Bridges, but he's a complimentary piece, not a cornerstone. And I think that’s where we have a lot...

Re: All Things Ayton
Golden State had an estimated $258 million (4th in the league) in 2021, the Suns had $206 million (about average). In 2020 the Warriors doubled the Suns revenue ($474 million to $222 million) so that's an apples and oranges comparison.
