Re: Second Round: OKC Thunder (2) vs LA Clippers (3)

Wowwwwwwww, this game was nuts. I'm really glad the Clips won it; the series would have been essentially over if they hadn't. And it would have been pretty sad not to be able to win this one on their own home court in basically a msut-win game. I agree that DeAndre Jordan is having an amazing year, ...

Re: RC Buford: Executive Of The Year

at least the suns can still go after gortat in the off season. Not happening. I actually wouldn't mind signing Gortat, but that sort of thing almost never happens in the NBA. Players don't like being traded away by a team, and they almost never "lower themselves" by going back there volun...

Re: Around the League: May 2014

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Jeffrey, I'm glad if you stick around. As INF said, please do still visit RealGM if you enjoy that site. I visit SpursTalk and a few other forums from time to time, and there's no harm in that. I don't expect anybody to be exclusive to this board. In terms of traffic...

Re: Second Round: Miami Heat (2) vs. Brooklyn Nets (6)

So, the Heat finally got beat. Pretty handily too. I still don't think they're going to get much resistance until they get to the Finals and I think that will hurt them. I'm interested to see what happens with the Heat. I assume they'll cruise to the Finals, but will Brooklyn make a series out of i...

Re: RC Buford: Executive Of The Year

I also have a cute girlfriend. And I'm a decent StarCraft player. OK, OK, I'm done. ... Seriously, though, so glad this site is sort of working out thus far. I know we don't have a ton of traffic yet, but I really think this place is a great place to talk Suns and NBA. I was missing this a lot durin...

Re: Around the League: May 2014

People who are racist, sexist, anti-gay, etc. seem to say things like, "Freedom of speech!" and, "You're calling me intolerant, but you aren't being tolerant of my view, so therefore YOU are the intolerant one!" But I think the cliched response is very apt here: "I don't nee...

Re: RC Buford: Executive Of The Year

Haha, I almost didn't say "at Stanford" for that reason, but I left it in the message. I deserve that ribbing. It reminds me of that Sprite ad where the supposedly bad ass basketball guy says, "Don't talk to me like a child, I played Hamlet at Cambridge!"

Re: Second Round: OKC Thunder (2) vs LA Clippers (3)

OKC got a real shot in the arm from that Durant MVP press conference. Really galvanized them. Clippers haven't been able to keep up with them ever since. I still think LAC is the better team, but motivation and energy are suddenly on OKC's side.

Re: RC Buford: Executive Of The Year

Sorry guys! I have been going nuts with my teaching lately. Still in my first academic year here at Stanford. My midterm is at the start of next week and I have to get a new assignment and grading criteria out too. So I haven't yet emailed Sose. But I will do it ASAP, hopefully this weekend.

Re: Around the League: May 2014

It just sounds like Mark Jackson was more trouble than he was worth, despite being a generally successful coach. He was stubborn and didn't want to compromise with management. He wanted to live in southern Cali and be a pastor there rather than live in the Bay Area. He pushed the religion stuff pret...

Portland is a really young team. It's easy to forget that Lillard is only a second-year player.

I think he'll get $12m/year, but we'll privately tell Goran that he'll get the same on his next deal.

Re: Around the League: May 2014

Poor P219. Don't make me post the hunky Marion image again! :-p j/k friend. I do wish he had been a career Sun, given how many years he has been effective with other teams since we let him go. He would be one of the greatest Suns ever if he had stayed the whole time. He's even a borderline HoFer giv...

Maybe Kerr just wants Scott Brooks to get fired so that he can apply for the newly vacant OKC coaching job. :-)

Re: RC Buford: Executive Of The Year

I don't really care that McD got Shavlik Randolph. I thought of him as an end-of-the-bench guy probably brought in for practice time and as insurance against injuries, anyway. He didn't really make an impact, but I expected nothing more.

Re: RC Buford: Executive Of The Year

Picking up an FA at the trade deadline in exchange for a first round draft pick is a stupid thing to do if your team is not even close to contending.

Re: Second Round: OKC Thunder (2) vs LA Clippers (3)

That was so smart of Durant to prop up and praise Westbrook in his MVP speech. You know it gave Russell some fuel tonight. Great game by both of them.
