Re: Suns News: Week 12 1/12-1/18
Current record 22-18. 2 bad losses to two teams clearly better than us. I disagree. Losing on the road playing a good team and losing in double overtime isnt a bad loss to me. Losing by 30 with no overtime would be a bad loss. Losing in double overtime is painfull, but doesn't prove to me that they...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
These two religions have been around for a long time. On a scale of 1-10 how well did they get along in the early years? 3? And now 1500 years later where do they stand? 3? They appose each other. What change do we really expect to happen realistically? I think the best we can hope for is that we le...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
Dack, I agree with you. But here in Brazil, the discussion is all about "they should not make cartoons, we don't have the right to offend religions or minorities", and so on. Here the discussion is about the role of religion on it. That's why is a relief to read a discussion like that her...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
It has been a great discussion. I know we push each other's buttons a little bit, but it's been a million time more civil than any CNN/ FOX/Politico thread. They never discuss. It's all insults and nothing more at those places. We are at least somewhat rational and show some me respect for each othe...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
. . . again, so? The movie "Dogma" portrayed the Christian God as a skeeball-loving Alanis Morisette and skewered the Catholic church. Were there Christian riots over it? Nope. If you're rioting over a portrayal of your divine being in a youtube video, that's an indictment of your belief ...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
My point about the youtube clip was that I don't think he was thrown in jail for making the movie even though the author tries to make it sound like that was what happened. I put in the part about him being a Christian felon intentionally trying to stir up violence as bonus info. According to the ri...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
Unlike most politicians, journalists, lawyers and other members of our ruling classes, this fearless magazine dared to mock Islam in the way the Left routinely mocks Christianity. The Obama administration three years ago even attacked Charlie Hebdo for publishing the naked Mohammed cartoon, saying ...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
They shouldn't be killed for making a cartoon, but they were. We think drawing a picture of their God is no big deal. It written in their Koran that anybody that does should be killed. We didn't think they would take it seriously enough to actually kill somebody. We were wrong. There has always been...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
Ghost, I know I sound like I am defending the terrorists, but I am not. I think there are always two sides to every disagreement and I don't think there are any Muslims here to defend their religion or people, so I took it upon myself to play devils advocate for them. I think the general opinion of ...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
I think Indy is right: religious leaders are very important for muslims because the Coran is complex and can have many different interpretations. Therefore many muslims choose to follow blindly what the Imam says... One could say religious leaders are very important for Christians because the Bible...

Spurs/Lakers, same thing. Always a must win just because the Lakers/Spurs deserve to lose to us.

Re: Terror attack in Paris
And as you said Zeratul, the culture in France is not very welcoming of Muslims. It breeds a "me against the world" attitude to begin with, and then it becomes much easier to accept the crazy preaching of an Imam. It is kind of like inner-city gang culture, or even neo-nazi and white supr...

Morris supposedly apologized to the team and on Twitter for going off on the coach. Hornacek didn't seem very upset in his post game interview saying it was just an emotional player in the heat of the moment.

Re: Big Unit in the Hall of Fame
Randy won the big prize. Charles came fairly close. Game set match. I loved Charles, but I also hated Charles. It's pretty obvious he never listened to anybody except himself. Sometimes he was unstoppable, but not always. On those games when he didn't have it going he would still demand the ball in ...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
Even though I don't believe in either religions, I believe people believe in those religions. Knowing that defacing the Koran or drawing pictures of Mohamed are punishable by death in their part of the world I would probably respect their beliefs and not do it. Doing it is legal in the US and France...

Re: Sony / The Interview / North Korea
I think North Korea is just the latest boogeyman to make us scared and feed the news cycle. They're harmless. I wouldn't say harmless, but maybe harmless to the US for the most part. They could easily make it a real bad day in SK which would make it a real bad day for the U.S. and China. They do th...

Re: Terror attack in Paris
That's true. We have to have somebody to fight at all times to justify the amount we spend on our military. At the same time we do need a strong military to keep other powers from exerting their "manifest destiny". It is a balancing act and a huge game of world chess always being played. W...
