Re: OT: Grantland Shuts Down
I think it is probably true that Grantland lost a *lot* of money. Wouldn't be surprised if that $200m number was correct or close to being correct. Grantland arrived with a splash, hired a bunch of people, rented lots of office and studio space, etc., but they didn't have much of a revenue stream. ...

I tried to email you back that I was too busy but it bounced through Yahoo for some reason. Thanks for the invite, though.

Re: Lafayette Shooting
Don't like it? Pass an Amendment. You don't need to change the constitution. Another case will eventually get to the Court, and this will be over-turned. Even in this decision, the 5 of the justices that voted to overturn the DC law said that there should be limits on the 2nd amendment. They just d...

Re: Lafayette Shooting
Same goes for churches being tax exempt. That's actually the exact opposite. Churches being tax exempt has nothing to do with the Constitution. Actually, as Andy pointed out, it appears to be in direct contrast to the 1st amendment. Much like you're doing with the 2nd Amendment, you're giving too m...

Re: Gay marriage
Too bad the court just didn't get government out of marriage entirely, they could have just eliminated his position. Now we're going to have to pay out more in a few years to make more forms with more lines:

And again, in the parlance of the day, well-regulated meant in good working order. Your opinion on the matter is moot after the Heller decision. As Cooke said, if you don't like it, amend it. Well regulated MILITIA not well regulated guns. Also, no. It actually meant basically what it means now. Se...

Re: Lafayette Shooting
The authors of the Heller decision disagree with you. Don't like it? Pass an Amendment. The Second Amendment is naturally divided into two parts: its prefatory clause and its operative clause. The former does not limit the latter grammatically, but rather announces a purpose. The Amendment could be ...

I wasn't aware cars or any other mode of transportation (wagons? horses?) were protected within the Bill of Rights. BRB, need to read up I guess.

I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and Constitutions. But laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the cha...

Catholics know how to party as well, so makes sense. My sister had a Catholic wedding and they had a beer truck with a dozen keg taps on it at the reception, LOL.

One thing I did notice. They are always drinking hard liquor in that family. Not that that is a bad thing. I just noticed every scene where they are not working they are drinking some hard liquor.

Re: Obligatory Walking Dead Thread
I watched it twice, once solo and once in a watch party. Anyone catch the doctor's comments about the old man who flatlined? "If we don't get him up in 60 seconds, get him downstairs", "we still don't know what this is". Then the nurse shushed him and gave a look at the junkie so...

And Justified is one of the greatest shows of all time, period. That is a pretty bold statement. I haven't heard anyone say that yet. I agree but my caveat is post mid 80's when I really started watching Tv. I can't really compare it to stuff that was on in the decades before that. I would say as f...

Thanks for the rec. I'm really bad about giving up on things that don't hook me immediately. I have a bazillion unfinished books. All the ones I do finish I give 4 stars or more on goodreads cause hey... I didn't quit you. I'll make sure to stick with this one. I have just the opposite problem. I c...
